Muhammad Ali Series ‘The Greatest’ Finally Lands Prime Video Release Date With First Look Teaser
Prime Video has officially announced the release date for its upcoming Muhammad Ali limited series The Greatest.
According to information revealed at Essence Festival of Culture, the series will premiere on Wednesday, November 4. The announcement was made during a presentation attended by creator, showrunner, and executive producer Ben Watkins, along with cast members Jaalen Best, Dana Gourrier, Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Michael Ealy.
Alongside the release date, Prime Video also unveiled a first-look teaser for the series, giving audiences an early glimpse of the project.
The Greatest stars Jaalen Best as Muhammad Ali and is described as an intimate look at the life of the legendary boxer, humanitarian, and global cultural figure. The series will focus on key moments across Ali’s life and career, both inside and outside the boxing ring. It aims to show not just his athletic achievements, but also his influence as a public figure and activist.
The series is particularly notable because it has been authorized by Ali’s estate. Executive producer Lonnie Ali, Muhammad Ali’s widow, is involved in the project, making it the first officially approved scripted series about his life. This gives the production access to personal insights and material connected to Ali’s legacy.
The show will run for eight episodes and is being developed by a wide group of production companies. These include Ben Watkins’ Blue Monday Productions, Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Polygram Entertainment (a Universal Music Group partner), and Grace: A Storytelling Company. Watkins also serves as showrunner and executive producer.
Other executive producers include Elizabeth Raposo from Outlier Society, Corey Salter, Marc Rosen, and Matthew Gross from Authentic Brand Group, as well as Aiyana White, Jeff Augustin, and Owen Shiflett. Additional executive production support comes from Roc Nation, Michele Anthony, Boyd Muir, and David Blackman for Polygram, along with Stefano Agosto of Outlier Society and Josh Wakely of Grace: A Storytelling Company.
While details about the teaser were not extensively broken down in the announcement, its release signals that marketing for the series is now underway ahead of its November debut. The project positions itself among a growing number of prestige biographical dramas focusing on major cultural figures.
