Summer is winding down, but Netflix is not slowing its release calendar one bit. The streamer’s August 2026 lineup is loaded with returning fan favorites, a handful of starry feature films, and one long-running series finally reaching its finish line.

Between beloved comedies coming back for new seasons and a wave of international titles rounding out the month, there is a genuinely packed slate of new Netflix Originals for subscribers to dig into. Here is a full breakdown of everything worth marking on your calendar.

Returning Netflix Original Series Coming in August 2026

Kicking things off on August 6th is ‘My Life with the Walter Boys’ Season 3, the hit teen romantic drama set in Colorado. The synopsis for the new season teases that Jackie and Cole finally confessed their love for each other, only for Jackie’s boyfriend and Cole’s brother, Alex, to overhear before the moment was interrupted when Walter patriarch George was rushed to the hospital. Netflix has already handed the show an early Season 4 renewal ahead of this season’s premiere, so fans of Silver Falls do not need to worry about the show’s future.

Younger viewers get their own treat on August 10th with ‘Dr. Seuss’s Red Fish, Blue Fish’ Season 3. The beloved animated preschool series is returning with 10 brand new episodes right before the back to school rush begins.

Comedy fans can look forward to August 13th, when ‘Tires’ Season 3 arrives. Shane Gillis’s hit workplace comedy is racing back for its third outing, continuing the hilarious, mundane, and often raunchy antics of the Valley Forge Automotive Center crew.

Rounding out the month on August 27th is ‘Leanne’ Season 2, the multi cam comedy from stand up comedian Leanne Morgan and sitcom veteran Chuck Lorre. This season features a special family reunion, with legendary actress Tyne Daly making a highly anticipated guest appearance alongside her real life brother and series regular Tim Daly.

‘Outer Banks’ Season 5 Marks an Emotional Series Finale

The biggest series event of the month arrives on August 20th, when ‘Outer Banks’ Season 5 premieres as the show’s final chapter. The final season consists of 10 one hour episodes and picks up after the devastating events of Season 4, following John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, and Cleo as they struggle to move forward while facing enemies old and new.

According to Netflix, the group finds itself stranded far from home after the events in Morocco, and with Chandler Groff still on the loose and additional threats closing in, the Pogues must rely on their instincts and an uneasy alliance with Rafe to survive.

Unlike Season 4, which was famously split into two batches, this farewell run breaks from that format entirely. All 10 episodes will be available to stream on the same date, giving fans the chance to binge the entire final hunt at once.

Series creators clearly feel the weight of closing out ‘Outer Banks’ for good. Speaking with Tudum, creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke said being back on set for this final round was “nothing short of bittersweet and surreal,” adding that they could not wait to show fans what they had in store. Across its run, the series has racked up nearly 200 million views and has landed on the Top 10 English TV List 25 times, making it one of Netflix’s most consistent performers.

New Netflix Original Movies Landing In August 2026

The film slate opens with ‘The Last House’ on August 7th, a genre bending sci fi horror project. Directed by action veteran Louis Leterrier and starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, the survival thriller runs one hour and 50 minutes and is positioned as one of Netflix’s biggest late summer cinematic events.

Comedy lovers get a palate cleanser on August 14th with ‘Don’t Say Good Luck.’ The breezy 93 minute film boasts an ensemble cast including Melanie Lynskey, Max Greenfield, Stephanie Beatriz, and Sunny Sandler. Closing out the month on August 28th is ‘The Whisper Man,’ a gritty crime thriller produced by the Russo Brothers’ AGBO banner.

Starring Robert De Niro and Adam Scott, the film follows a widowed crime writer who turns to his estranged father, a retired police detective, for help after his eight year old son is abducted, only to discover a connection to the decades old case of a convicted serial killer known as ‘The Whisper Man.’

Documentary viewers are not left out either. Acclaimed filmmaker Rory Kennedy returns on August 19th with ‘Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing,’ a 93 minute sequel to her 2022 documentary that takes another hard hitting look at the aerospace giant’s ongoing controversies.

International Netflix Originals Rounding Out the Month

Netflix’s global slate is just as busy this August. ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’ Part 2 arrives August 5th, delivering a standalone grand finale to the sweeping Spanish language adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s generations spanning saga. On August 8th, anime fans get ‘The Ribbon Hero,’ a Japanese feature film based on Osamu Tezuka’s pioneering manga Princess Knight.

Fans of Brazilian crime drama get a treat on August 12th with ‘Nando Between Two Worlds,’ a Portuguese language spin off movie from the Sintonia franchise centered on the fan favorite character of Nando as he navigates his dangerous dual life. Later in the month, ‘Blood Sacrifice’ premieres August 20th as a tight five episode Swedish crime drama miniseries from the creator of Lupin.

August 28th brings a trio of international releases, including ‘All the Truth in My Lies,’ a five episode Spanish romance drama miniseries adapted from Elísabet Benavent’s work, alongside the return of Turkish drama ‘Graveyard’ for its third season.

With a series finale, several starry films, and a wide spread of international titles all landing within a few weeks, Netflix’s August 2026 calendar might be its busiest stretch of the summer. Which goodbye are you least prepared for, the Pogues finally sailing off for good, or one of these other returning favorites wrapping up its own chapter?
