Secret superhero castings have turned into their own kind of promotional theater in recent years, with studios asking actors to spend months dodging questions while fans obsessively parse every raised eyebrow for clues. James Gunn’s DC Universe has leaned into that tradition especially hard, and Adria Arjona has become one of the more entertaining participants in that particular game.

Arjona has already wrapped filming on Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ the highly anticipated ‘Superman’ sequel, yet DC Studios still hasn’t confirmed exactly who she’s playing. Speculation has settled on two possibilities, either the villainous Maxima or, far more provocatively, Wonder Woman herself, and Arjona has spent months walking a careful line between the two without confirming either.

That line got a little thinner during her latest press stop. While promoting her A24 thriller ‘Onslaught,’ Arjona sat down with Josh Horowitz on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, where the host tried yet another angle to get her talking, this time asking directly about her costume rather than the character itself.

Arjona finally gave him something concrete. She said she loves her costume, adding that both potential characters have great costumes if you’re a fan of the comics, before jokingly telling Peter Safran and James Gunn they were killing her by putting her in this position.

That response managed to be both revealing and completely noncommittal at once, a balancing act Arjona has clearly gotten good at over months of press appearances. She did confirm one genuinely interesting detail during the same conversation, telling Horowitz she knew exactly which character she was auditioning for from the very beginning, a level of clarity that isn’t always guaranteed even for actors entering secretive superhero productions.

The interview also produced one of the more memorable moments of Arjona’s ongoing press tour when Horowitz decided to test her further with a financial wager. He told her he’d bet $500 that she’s playing Wonder Woman, prompting Arjona to counter by asking what happened if she turned out to be Maxima instead, insisting he match the bet for that possibility too.

The two eventually settled on a charity wager, agreeing that whoever guesses wrong will donate $500 to a charity of the other’s choosing. It’s the kind of playful exchange that’s become a hallmark of Arjona’s approach to the endless speculation, engaging with the mystery just enough to keep fans talking without actually breaking her silence.

Arjona was cast in an undisclosed role for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ back in April 2026, and speculation has only intensified since, fueled further by an intense training regimen she’s documented publicly, showing hours of daily cardio, weightlifting, and boxing that fans have interpreted as prep work for a physically demanding superhero role.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ continues the story Gunn kicked off with 2025’s ‘Superman,’ bringing back David Corenswet as Clark Kent alongside Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The film is set for release on July 9, 2027, giving fans plenty of time to keep dissecting every interview Arjona gives between now and then.

With DC Studios continuing to guard her character’s identity as tightly as Marvel guarded Jean Grey’s reveal in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ Arjona’s costume comments have only added fresh fuel to a debate that shows no signs of cooling down. Whatever she’s actually wearing under that mystery suit, it sounds like she’s genuinely excited to finally show fans once the wraps come off.

Who do you think Adria Arjona is really playing in Man of Tomorrow?
