‘Peacemaker’ Star Jennifer Holland Says James Gunn’s ‘Man of Tomorrow’ Is His Best Movie Yet
Jennifer Holland is already praising James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe movie Man of Tomorrow, calling it one of the filmmaker’s strongest projects yet. The Peacemaker star revealed that she has seen a large portion of the highly anticipated Superman sequel and believes fans are in for something special.
Man of Tomorrow will continue the story of Superman after the events of Gunn’s first DCU film. David Corenswet will return as Clark Kent/Superman, while Nicholas Hoult will once again play Lex Luthor. The movie will bring the two longtime rivals together as they face a larger threat in Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.
The upcoming film will also expand the new DC Universe by featuring several familiar heroes. Milly Alcock’s Supergirl is expected to appear, further connecting the franchise’s characters and storylines. The cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
Holland, who plays Emilia Harcourt in the DC Universe, recently spoke with GamesRadar+ during a screening of Supergirl and shared her excitement about Gunn’s next movie. While Man of Tomorrow is still in production and has not been completed, Holland said she has already seen enough footage to form a strong opinion.
According to Holland, the sequel feels like a major step forward for Gunn and the DC franchise. She suggested that the film could even become her favorite project from the director. “I can tell you that I have seen an enormous, enormous portion of the movie, and I am so excited for Man of Tomorrow,” Holland said.
She continued, “It might be James’s best… my favorite movie of James, and I haven’t even seen the whole thing yet. I’m just… I love the movie.” The actress also explained that the movie feels bigger and more ambitious compared to Gunn’s previous DC projects.
“It feels like a step up to me in a lot of ways. I’m excited for people to see it, and he’s not done filming it yet,” Holland added.
Gunn has already found success with his DC work, especially through the HBO Max series Peacemaker, where Holland became a key part of the cast. Her character Emilia Harcourt first appeared in The Suicide Squad before becoming one of Amanda Waller’s trusted agents in the television series.
Peacemaker also stars John Cena as Christopher Smith, along with Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma as Vigilante, Steve Agee as John Economos, Robert Patrick as Auggie Smith, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.
Although Holland has spoken highly of Man of Tomorrow, it is still unclear whether Harcourt will appear in the movie. The DCU has been slowly building connections between its films and television projects, meaning surprise appearances remain possible.
For now, fans will have to wait to see whether Gunn’s latest superhero adventure lives up to Holland’s massive praise. Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 9, 2027, and expectations are already high for the next chapter of Superman’s story.
