We all love fighting video games, especially if they feature some of our favorite fictional characters. While most of the known fighting video game franchises usually offer a whole roster of the original characters, sometimes their rosters can offer some additional characters that players have already met in some other media.

Mortal Kombat is one of the most known fighting video game franchises ever, and the fans are impatiently waiting for the announcement of the next main installment in the franchise. The first reports are saying that this 12th installment will be another soft reboot of the franchise, officially titled “Mortal Kombat 1.”

Mortal Kombat is generally known for its original characters like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kitana, Johnny Cage, Sonia Blade, and others. But some previous installments in the franchise also had playable characters that weren’t originally created for these games. Previous installments had guest stars like the Joker, Alien, Predator, Leatherface, and Jason from Friday the 13th movie series. Now, while the official roster for the next installment is yet to be revealed, we might know at least one guest character.

Peacemaker will reportedly be a part of the next Mortal Kombat roster!

According to Windows Central, Peacemaker is one of the guest characters that could be playable in the next installment of the Mortal Kombat franchise. Having a DC character in Mortal Kombat isn’t unusual since Mortal Kombat is developed by NetherRealm Studios, which is under the ownership of Warner Bros. Games. The same report also mentions that Homelander, from Amazon’s series The Boys, might also be included in the game.

Peacemaker is a DC character created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette. The character first appeared in DC comic book in 1966, but the character’s popularity rapidly increased when John Cena debuted as a live-action Peacemaker in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad in 2021. After the movie’s release, Gunn wrote a spin-off series for HBOMax, with Cena reprising the role. The Peacemaker series premiered in January 2022 and received a positive response from fans and critics. The second season is currently in development.

NetherRealm Studios developed all the Mortal Kombat games since 2011, led by the franchises’ co-creator Ed Boon. The studio also developed two Injustice games, fighting video games with rosters that include only DC characters. Still, Mortal Kombat characters like Sub-Zero also found their way to the roster of Injustice games. The latest Mortal Kombat installment, Mortal Kombat 11, was released in 2019. Now, four years later, it’s about time we get a new Mortal Kombat installment.
