Out of all upcoming MCU projects, ‘Deadpool 3’ is so far the only one being scheduled for a 2024 release. But we must look beyond that, and when it comes to projects scheduled to be released in the next 2 or 3 years, none is as hyped as the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. A while back we’ve learned that Pedro Pascal is in talks to play Reed Richards, with Vanessa Kirby being signed on as Sue Storm. The roles of Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm went to Joseph Quinn and Daveed Diggs, respectively, according to the same rumors.

And while we had the official confirmation that Pascal will be joining the cast of ‘Fantastic Four’ there was no such thing regarding the rest of the Marvel’s first family. According to notable leaker and scooper Daniel Richtman, this is because Pascal is the only one who is actually signed on with the other three cast members still in talks with Marvel Studios. The filming is also expected to begin in July 2024, so hopefully, we will get more news regarding the cast until then.

In 2019, Kevin Feige announced a ‘Fantastic Four’ film as part of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jon Watts, known for directing MCU’s Spider-Man films, was initially attached as the director in December 2020. However, in April 2022, Watts stepped down from the project. Kevin Feige later revealed in July that the reboot would not feature an origin story.

Matt Shakman entered talks to direct in August, confirmed in September during the Disney event D23. Writers Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer were hired in the same month, with Josh Friedman joining in March 2023 for script rewriting. Principal photography was set to begin in January 2024 in London. The release date for Fantastic Four was initially set for November 8, 2024, but it was rescheduled to February 14, 2025, and eventually to May 2, 2025, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
