Quentin Tarantino has built a career by blending smart filmmaking with the raw energy of old-school genre movies. From the start, he showed a deep love for cinema, and that passion helped turn Pulp Fiction into a cultural moment.

The 1994 film won him an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and featured a cast packed with stars like John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, and Uma Thurman. Even today, it is watched and studied by film fans everywhere.

Tarantino’s style did not come out of nowhere. He has always talked openly about stealing ideas from movies he grew up watching. Those influences range from classic westerns to low-budget thrillers. Some of them go all the way back to when he was a small child.

While speaking with Italian TV host Fabio Fazio, Tarantino shared a story about the very first movie he ever saw. According to him, that film was the 1967 spy movie Deadlier Than the Male. He was only five years old at the time, but the experience stayed with him.

He explained that one scene in particular made a strong impression. In the movie, two women kidnap a man and keep him tied up. Tarantino admitted that he was far too young to understand what the scene was really about, but the images burned into his memory. Years later, after he had already become famous, he bought the movie and watched it again.

As he reached that scene, everything suddenly clicked. He realized, This is the first movie I ever f*****g saw. The moment hit him hard and helped him understand where some of his ideas and instincts came from. Even though Deadlier Than the Male was made to ride the wave of James Bond-style films, it clearly left a lasting mark on him.

Today, Tarantino is still making headlines even though he has stepped back from directing for now. He recently scrapped plans for what was meant to be his final film, The Movie Critic, saying he did not want to rush his legacy.

Still, he has not walked away from storytelling. He has written the script for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a follow-up to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. This time, he handed directing duties to David Fincher, a move that surprised many fans.

The project brings Brad Pitt back as Cliff Booth and includes actors like Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Scott Caan. Netflix backed the film with a reported $200 million budget, and production wrapped in January.
