No matter what you think about the MCU since the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, one thing that cannot be denied is that Marvel Studios is still doing a pretty good job when it comes to casting. Not only the original Avengers like Iron Man, Captain America, and Black Widow, but also newer characters like Shang-Chi and Moon Knight were all played by spot-on actors, and we just can’t wait to see the casting for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie because we know Marvel Studios rarely let us down with casting choices.

Speaking of the Fantastic Four, it’s pretty interesting how little we know about that movie since it was initially announced in December 2020. The only legit thing we know is that the original director Jon Watts stepped down, and Matt Shakman, who directed all episodes of WandaVision, has signed to replace him. Apart from that, we’re totally in the dark. There have been some rumors about the potential casting of Reed Richards, but that’s still far from official.

Now, according to Giant Freakin Robot, the veteran actor Antonio Banderas has been reportedly approached by Marvel Studios, which offered him the role of Galactus, a cosmic supervillain who consumes planets to sustain his life force. Galactus was one of the fan choices for the next big villain after Thanos, but Marvel Studios decided to go with Kang the Conqueror as the main villain of the Multiverse Saga. Galactus first appeared in the Fantastic Four comics in 1966 and was the main villain of 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Antonio Banderas is an acting veteran who received numerous awards for his work. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in 2019’s Pain and Glory, in addition to two nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards and five nominations for Golden Globe Awards. General audiences know him from popular movies like Interview with the Vampire, Desperado, The Mask of Zorro, and The 13th Warrior, and he also voiced Puss in Boots in the Shrek franchise and two spin-off movies centered on the character.

It’s hard to say how realistic it is for this casting to happen since we don’t even know who will appear as the villain in the Fantastic Four movie. Of course, when you think of Fantastic Four, two villains immediately come to your mind; Doctor Doom and Galactus. And while it’s safe to say we’d eventually meet both of them in the MCU, we can’t know when that will be. There are some rumors about Doctor Doom’s involvement in the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, but first, we have Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, so let’s go one movie at a time.

The Fantastic Four reboot movie, set in the MCU, is set to be released on February 14, 2025. It will be the first movie of MCU’s Phase 6.
