Rumors Marvel Studios To Revive Cancelled Shows Both Live Action Animated

Despite having obvious problems with the quality of the projects, and the fact that Bob Iger came out with a statement a few months ago about how they should focus on “quality over quantity,” Marvel Studios and the MCU are going full steam ahead developing numerous projects to be released in the next few years.

Yes, only one movie will be released in 2024 and it’s Deadpool 3′ which is widely known as “MCU Savior” but it’s still questionable whether that is truly due to the studio focusing on quality or whether the other projects simply aren’t ready due to various rewrites, extensive reshoots and other problems caused by SAG-AFTRA strike. One project that we can also expect to be released relatively soon in 2024 is ‘X-Men ’97,’ an animated show and a revival of the old ‘X-Men: The Animated Series.’ The show is supposed to be a direct continuation of the older show that many fans remember with nostalgia-tinted glasses.

We also have to mention the recent release of ‘Echo’ which seemingly confirmed Netflix’s The Defenders Saga as MCU canon and put it on the official MCU Timeline. You’re probably wondering what those two projects have in common, well if the rumors are to be believed following the hype surrounding ‘The Defenders’ saga being canon and the hype surrounding ‘X-Men ’97’ Marvel Studios is considering reviving canceled shows, both live-action and animated.

‘The Defenders’ Saga seems like a prime candidate for the revival, especially now that the crown jewel of street-level superheroes is joining the MCU in the official sense with ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ Even before these rumors plenty of fans were calling for the shows like ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘Luke Cage’ to receive more episodes, and now this might be the reality.

And while it always seemed like Disney’s MCU wanted nothing to do with The Defenders considering how the events that took place within that Saga weren’t referenced in the movies at all, it seems that the shows had a much larger following than the Studio anticipated. There’s also that rumor we covered several weeks ago, that some aspects of The Defenders Saga will be taken as literal canon but some characters will possibly be recast. In any case, it looks like some of the “dead” shows are finally up for a revisit, let’s just hope that the studio will keep what was working with the shows in the first place without too many alterations.
