Rumors Reveal What Went Wrong With ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Test Screening

Several MCU projects were put back on track after the SAG-AFTRA strike was over, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ & SSU’s ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ are already finished with reshoots and are on their way to hit the screens this year, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ already having trailer out. One project that suffered more than most was ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ which got delayed for a full year and had to undergo extensive reshoots and rewrites following unsatisfactory test screenings.

Allegedly, the story was modified to a large extent and one minor villain group that was supposed to appear in the movie – Serpent Society – was removed from the film altogether. Now initially reports were brief when describing what went wrong with the movie citing bad action scenes that weren’t up to par with previous ‘Captain America’ films that set the bar pretty high.

Now leaker and scooper Oh How I Marvel At Those Marvels explained in a bit more detail what went wrong. Some of the statements corroborate what we’ve previously heard and some are new. Apparently, it was the action, the bad chemistry behind the leads, and the overall political messages of the movie:

The test audiences complained that the overall political message of the movie was boring and uninspiring. This isn’t something that’s hard to believe all that much although I do have to warn you that this source is of questionable nature and doesn’t have all that credibility when compared to our other sources with high accuracy rates.

Marvel Studios has hired Matthew Orton to work as a screenwriter on reshoots, and one more round is scheduled for spring-summer of 2024. In case you missed it, ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ won’t be released in 2024 after all. It was pushed back to February 14, 2025, and if the reshoots go well, we can expect the movie to respect that release schedule. 

Not much is known about the overall plot of the movie, a brief synopsis that was leaked by the Copyright Office only presented us with “Sam Wilson is the man with a plan.”
