Marvel fans are once again debating who Sadie Sink is really playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day after a new image from the upcoming film sparked fresh theories online.

Ever since Sink joined the cast, Marvel and Sony have kept details about her character a secret. While most of the film’s major cast members have known roles, Sink remains one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the project. That secrecy has only increased fan curiosity as new footage and promotional material continue to tease her character without revealing her identity.

A new image shared online, taken from the latest trailer, appears to show Sink wearing a hooded outfit and face covering while standing inside what looks like a workshop. The photo quickly attracted attention from fans, many of whom pointed out similarities between the image and scenes already shown in trailers for the movie.

The latest trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day features a hooded character believed to be played by Sink. In several brief moments, the character appears to be using mysterious powers that resemble telekinesis or mind control. Another scene hints that she may somehow be connected to the appearance of a savage version of the Hulk during one of the movie’s action sequences.

These clues have led many fans to return to one of the most popular theories surrounding Sink’s casting: that she is secretly playing Jean Grey.

Jean Grey is one of the most famous members of the X-Men and possesses powerful psychic abilities. Because Marvel Studios has been slowly introducing mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many viewers believe Spider-Man: Brand New Day could serve as an early step toward bringing the X-Men into the franchise.

The speculation gained even more attention after industry insider Daniel Richtman reportedly claimed that Sink is playing Jean Grey. While Marvel has not confirmed that information, the rumor spread quickly among fans eager to see the X-Men finally arrive in the MCU.

Despite the constant theories, Sink has remained careful when discussing her role. During Fandango’s Big Ticket interview alongside the cast, she avoided revealing any details about her character.

“I really like the character, and that’s all I’ll say.”

That brief comment was enough to keep fans guessing.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day takes place four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Following Doctor Strange’s spell that erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory, Peter is now completely alone and operating as Spider-Man without the support of his friends and loved ones.

According to the film’s official premise, Peter spends his time protecting New York City while investigating a dangerous new threat. At the same time, he begins experiencing a strange evolution of his powers that could put his future at risk.

The movie features a large cast that includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Sadie Sink. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film is expected to return Spider-Man to a more street-level story while also setting up larger developments within the MCU.

Until Marvel officially reveals Sink’s character, fans will continue analyzing every trailer frame, promotional image, and interview for clues. Whether she turns out to be Jean Grey or someone completely unexpected, her role has already become one of the biggest talking points surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 31.
