Scarlett Johansson first debuted as Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2010’s ‘Iron Man 2.’ She reprised the role in various MCU movies, including all the ‘Avengers’ movies and her own ‘Black Widow’ in 2021, marking her final appearance. Johansson confirmed that her MCU chapter is done, and she won’t play Natasha Romanoff again.

However, Johansson was previously announced as the producer of the top-secret Marvel project, which should be the first project where the actor serves as the producer. When ‘Black Widow’ was released in July 2021 in theaters and on Disney+ simultaneously, Johansson filed a lawsuit against the company, which was settled two months later. Although we won’t see her in the role of Natasha Romanoff anymore, we will eventually watch an MCU movie she will produce alongside Kevin Feige.

Scarlett Johansson-produced MCU project is still happening, the actress confirmed!

In a recent interview with Liam Crowley from ComicBook.com, Scarlett Johansson confirmed that the secret MCU project which she is set to produce is still in development. Still, we don’t know what the project will be about, when it will release, and will even be related to the character of Black Widow.

“It is still happening. Yes. It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We’re all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers’ strike and potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth.”

Although Johansson confirmed we wouldn’t see her as Natasha Romanoff again, we know MCU’s new Black Widow is Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, who first debuted in the ‘Black Widow’ movie alongside Johansson, and she reprised the role in the ‘Hawkeye’ TV series. Pugh is set to reprise the role in the ‘Thunderbolts’ movie, which is set to b released on December 20, 2024, after the latest round of delays.

Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff joined the MCU in 2010 and was a member of the original Avengers assembled in the first crossover movie in 2012. After that, she reprised the role in all the other ‘Avengers’ movies and both ‘Captain America’ sequels. Her character was ultimately killed off in 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ and ‘Black Widow’ was the prequel that marked her final appearance and also introduced Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova and David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian.

We don’t know anything about the secret Marvel project that Johansson is producing, but we’re looking forward to finding out more about it. What do you think the project will be about? Let us know in the comments.
