‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Marks Its Historic Run With a Striking New Look
Sony and Marvel’s latest web-slinging adventure has spent the past three weeks rewriting box office record books at a pace few films ever achieve. What started as a record-shattering opening weekend has turned into one of the most dominant theatrical runs of the year, with “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continuing to pack theaters well past its debut.
That momentum shows no signs of slowing down heading into the film’s fourth weekend of release. The movie has already crossed the $2 billion mark globally, becoming the second-fastest film ever to reach that milestone, achieving the feat in just 17 days compared to the 11 days it took “Avengers: Endgame” to get there.
Now, as the film continues its historic run in theaters, a striking new promotional poster has surfaced, showing Tom Holland’s Peter Parker smiling against a torn red-and-white backdrop with the film’s title splashed across the bottom alongside the phrase “In Cinemas Now,” a fitting celebration of the film’s continued box office dominance nearly a month into release.

That dominance has been staggering by any measure. The film opened to $355 million domestically from 4,487 North American theaters, the second-biggest debut in domestic box office history behind only “Avengers: Endgame’s” $357 million, not adjusted for inflation, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige called the reception “truly phenomenal” while expressing gratitude toward audiences who came out to see the film “the way it was meant to be seen.”
Following its opening frame, “Brand New Day” continued putting up numbers few films manage even in their debut weekend. Its second weekend brought in another $145 million domestically, one of the biggest second-weekend hauls in box office history, before the film settled into a still-massive $70 million third weekend, remaining firmly in first place at the North American box office.
As of the most recent count, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has amassed $786.5 million domestically, the fourth-highest domestic total ever recorded, alongside $1.238 billion internationally for a current worldwide tally exceeding $2 billion. That combination places the film among an extremely exclusive group, becoming just the eighth movie in history to cross the $2 billion global threshold.
The film has also found itself sharing the spotlight with Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” another 2026 blockbuster that’s been putting up remarkable numbers of its own throughout the same stretch. Industry analysts have pointed to the pairing as a driving force behind an unusually strong late-summer box office season, with Rentrak’s head of marketplace trends noting that “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” are providing genuine “blockbuster momentum” heading into the final weeks of summer.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film picks up four years after the events of “No Way Home,” following Peter Parker as an adult living entirely alone after voluntarily erasing himself from the memories of everyone he loves. Devoted full-time to protecting a New York that no longer recognizes him, Peter faces mounting physical changes even as a mysterious new pattern of crimes introduces one of the most formidable threats he’s ever encountered.
With the film continuing to dominate the box office chart heading into its fourth weekend and industry watchers speculating about whether 2026 could become only the second post-pandemic year to cross $10 billion in annual grosses, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” shows every sign of remaining a fixture at theaters for weeks to come. Given how rare it is for a film to maintain this kind of staying power nearly a month into its release, the new poster’s triumphant framing feels well-earned.
What do you think is the biggest reason behind ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s’ massive box office success?
