A new video celebrating Star Wars Day has been released, giving fans a fresh look at the upcoming film “The Mandalorian and Grogu.”

The clip was shared by Lucasfilm as part of the May the 4th celebrations. It serves both as a tribute to the wider Star Wars universe and as a preview of the new movie, which is set to arrive in theaters on May 22.

The video mixes moments from past Star Wars stories with new footage. It opens with scenes featuring well-known characters like Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Qui-Gon Jinn. Over these clips, Pedro Pascal’s character delivers a message about different generations helping each other. He says, “The old protect the young, and then the young protect the old.”

As the video continues, it shows more familiar faces from across the franchise, including Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, and Rey. It then shifts focus to the new film, showing scenes centered on Din Djarin and Grogu.

“The Mandalorian and Grogu” continues the story from the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian.” The film is directed by Jon Favreau, who also worked on the show. Pedro Pascal returns as Din Djarin, the bounty hunter who has become a key figure in the galaxy after the fall of the Empire.

According to the official description, the story takes place after the Empire’s defeat, with smaller groups of former Imperial leaders still active. The New Republic is trying to maintain order, and Din Djarin, along with Grogu, is drawn into this ongoing conflict.

The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White. White is set to voice Rotta the Hutt, a character connected to Jabba the Hutt.

This kind of video works well because it connects the past and present of Star Wars. It reminds fans why they care about these characters while also building interest in the new movie. Do you think bringing back familiar elements is the right approach, or should Star Wars focus more on completely new stories? Share your thoughts in the comments.
