Few TV characters have turned a quiet life into something as darkly funny as Rhiannon Lewis. The wallflower-turned-killer at the center of Sky’s thriller spent her first outing keeping a mental list of people who wronged her, and then putting that list to work. Now, after a long wait, the ‘Sweetpea‘ comeback has a trailer and a date.

Based on C.J. Skuse’s 2017 novel and created by Kirstie Swain, the series premiered on Sky Atlantic on October 10, 2024. Ella Purnell stars as Rhiannon and also serves as an executive producer. It was renewed in December 2024 by Sky and Starz, and early teasers have hinted at a bigger story this time around.

A new trailer, running 1 minute and 36 seconds, has now been released for the second season, and it confirms that the series returns on November 26 as a Sky Original. The footage shows Purnell in a glamorous, award-style setting, standing at a podium in front of a dark, candlelit crowd. It is a striking image for a character who once couldn’t get anyone to notice her.

An earlier teaser arrived in August, built around the word “monster” and showing Rhiannon seemingly ready to embrace who she has become. The new trailer expands on that with more of the story. For viewers in the United States, the season is due on Starz in early 2027.

The action picks up after the deadly events of the first season finale. Rhiannon is now navigating a new promotion at the local newspaper where she works, an irresistible rebound and a copycat killer threatening to expose her. Her kill list is growing, and she is forced to question whether her perfect ex, AJ, was right when he called her a monster.

That setup mixes the show’s trademark dark comedy with real jeopardy. A copycat is a particularly nasty complication for a killer who has tried to stay under the radar, and a new love interest adds another layer of risk.

Several returning cast members are back, including Jon Pointing, Jeremy Swift, Leah Harvey, Ingrid Oliver, Nitin Ganatra and Alexandra Dowling. Leah Harvey plays Marina Farrar, a junior detective, which suggests the police pressure will continue.

New additions include Rish Shah as Gabriel, Rhiannon’s new romantic interest, and Tamsin Greig as Liv, AJ’s mother. Taj Atwal plays Freya, Rhiannon’s formidable new boss at the Carnsham Gazette, and Jenny Walser plays Daisy, her new friend. Greig’s role in particular promises awkward tension.

Ella Jones is the lead director, with Coky Giedroyc directing episodes 2, 3 and 4. Selina Lim is lead writer, joined by Emme Hoy, Anna Jordan and Laura Jayne Tunbridge. The series is produced by See-Saw Films and fanboy in association with Sky Studios.

Executive producers include Purnell, Ella Jones, Swain, Patrick Walters, Helen Gregory, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman. That continuity should help the show keep its distinctive tone, which blends gore with wry humor and a sharp take on female anger.

The return comes at a busy time for Purnell, who is also known for ‘Fallout’ and ‘Yellowjackets’. She has teased that the new season tells a much larger story than the first, which suggests the stakes will be higher. Her dual role as star and producer gives her a say in how far Rhiannon’s story goes.

The show has been described as a coming-of-rage journey, and it has drawn praise for the way it handles its central character’s complexity. That reputation is one reason the second season was greenlit so quickly after the first.

The first season was a compact six-episode run that ended on a shocking twist, leaving plenty of questions about whether Rhiannon would ever face consequences. The new trailer suggests the answer is that her troubles are only getting started. With a copycat on the loose, the pressure is as much about identity as it is about getting caught.

For fans of dark comedy thrillers, the November 26 date offers a clear countdown. It also gives the series a prime slot ahead of its U.S. debut.
