Doctor Who (Franchise)
Doctor Who is a long-running British science fiction TV series created for the BBC in 1963. It follows the Doctor, a time-traveling alien from the Time Lords, who explores space and time in the TARDIS and often protects civilizations with the help of companions. The character has been played by multiple actors over the years through a plot device called regeneration, which allows the Doctor to change appearance and personality while continuing the same story.
The series ran until 1989, was revived in 2005, and continues today as a major global cultural phenomenon with spin-offs and expanded media known as the Whoniverse.
