Taylor Sheridan’s 2026 TV Takeover Just Keeps Getting Bigger as More Upcoming Projects Keep Lining Up
If you thought Taylor Sheridan might slow down after building out an entire television universe, think again. The prolific writer and producer has an almost overwhelming slate of shows hitting screens this year, spanning brand new spinoffs, returning favorites, and at least one big screen project waiting in the wings.
From the Yellowstone universe expanding yet again to established hits wrapping up their runs, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the busiest years yet for the Sheridan-verse. Sheridan continues to be the mind and influence behind various other hits that bring in millions of viewers per episode, and he has plenty of Yellowstone spinoffs on the way alongside his other established worlds like ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ and ‘Landman.’
‘Yellowstone’ Spinoffs Keep Multiplying
The first new arrival of the year was ‘Marshals,’ which functions as both a sequel and a spinoff to ‘Yellowstone.’ The show follows the youngest Dutton sibling, Kayce, played by Luke Grimes, and his son Tate, played by Brecken Merrill, as they part ways with the family ranch in the wake of shared grief. When Kayce reconnects with his old friend Cal, played by Logan Marshall-Green, he unexpectedly finds himself part of an elite tactical team of U.S. Marshals.
‘Marshals’ premiered March 1 on CBS and Paramount+, with new episodes airing Sundays at 8 p.m. The response has been strong enough that a second season already looks likely. It wasn’t a surprise that the streamer renewed the show for a second run, which may arrive on Paramount+ in late 2026.
Then there is ‘Dutton Ranch,’ the second major spinoff of the franchise, bringing back two of the most beloved characters in the entire universe. Beth and Rip are back, with Cole Hauser returning as Rip Wheeler and Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton, as they go to any lengths to protect the Dutton legacy. The nine episode first season, created by executive producer and showrunner Chad Feehan, is set to stream on the Paramount Network beginning May 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
The road to that premiere wasn’t exactly smooth. ‘Dutton Ranch’ was originally supposed to air in late 2025 before eventually being pushed back to an early 2026 release window.
‘Landman’ and ‘Lioness’ Return For New Seasons
Outside the Dutton family drama, Sheridan’s other big hits are also gearing up for fresh installments. ‘Landman’ is officially set to return for a third season on Paramount+ this November, with Billy Bob Thornton reprising his role as Tommy Norris, the tough and sharp tongued oil executive navigating corporate battles and land deals in West Texas.
Fans hoping for an earlier premiere may need to adjust their expectations. Landman has traditionally begun filming in April to premiere in November, but showrunner Christian Wallace has indicated production for season three will start a month later than normal, which would likely push things toward a December 2026 premiere instead.

Meanwhile, the spy thriller ‘Lioness’ is also making its way back after a strong second season. Zoe Saldana returns as operative Joe McNamara alongside Nicole Kidman as senior field leader Kaitlyn Meade, with the season two ratings strong enough to secure a third season order. Ian Bohen joins the cast as a new series regular playing Grady, a Delta Force operator and K9 handler, while much of the previous ensemble including Michael Kelly, Morgan Freeman, and Laysla De Oliveira are expected to return.
Production has already wrapped, which bodes well for a 2026 release. Production on the new season began in October 2025 and wrapped in late March 2026, with the show expected to release later this year.
‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Nears Its Final Chapter
Not every corner of the Sheridan-verse is expanding though, as ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ is heading toward its conclusion. Season five will see Jeremy Renner return as Mike McLusky alongside Edie Falco as Warden Nina Hobbs, Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson, Taylor Handley as Kyle, Tobi Bamtefa as Bunny Washington, and Lennie James as Frank Moses, with David Morse joining as FBI agent Russell Hardy.
The news that this will be the final season caught plenty of fans off guard given the show’s original scope. The show’s creators had previously stated they had a seven season plan for Mike McLusky’s story, but they will now be wrapping things up a couple seasons short of that, with season five ordered for only eight episodes compared to the ten episode runs of prior seasons.
There is a small silver lining for devoted viewers who aren’t ready to say goodbye. While it was previously reported that the season would be the last, Renner recently hinted that there may be more to come. Production began in early March 2026 in Pittsburgh, with a release window expected in late 2026 or early to mid 2027.
New Spinoffs and a Return to the Big Screen
Sheridan isn’t done expanding the ‘Tulsa King’ corner of his universe either. The spinoff, originally titled ‘Nola King’ and now called Frisco ‘King, stars’ Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a character introduced in ‘Tulsa King,’ joined by Asa Germann, Kai Caster, Lilah Pate, and Savanna Gann. Production began in late March 2026 with Christina Alexandra Voros directing the pilot, though no exact release date has been set, with late 2026 or a more realistic early 2027 premiere expected.
Beyond the small screen, Sheridan is also stepping back into feature filmmaking. He is set to return to movies with the upcoming action thriller ‘F.A.S.T.’, which stars ‘1923’ alum Brandon Sklenar as a down on his luck former special forces operative. He is also lending his writing talents to a major video game adaptation.
Which new Taylor Sheridan project are you lookig forward to the most?
Sheridan is co-writing the script alongside frequent collaborator Peter Berg, who will direct the film, for an upcoming movie adaptation of a hit Activision video game franchise, though plot and casting details remain under wraps.
With spinoffs multiplying, a beloved show winding down, and a movie career restarting, there is genuinely something for every kind of Sheridan fan this year. Which of these 2026 projects has you the most excited, and are you ready to say goodbye to Mike McLusky’s story in ‘Mayor of Kingstown?’
