Production on ‘The Batman Part II’ is well underway, and the man responsible for building its world just quietly offered fans their most tantalizing glimpse yet.

Production designer Luke Hull shared a fresh set of photos on Instagram, giving the internet an atmospheric, shadow-drenched look at what appears to be on-set environments from the sequel. As Culture Crave flagged on X, the images have sparked immediate excitement among the film’s intensely loyal fanbase, who have been starving for any genuine visual from the production.

The two photographs shared by Hull capture a remarkably specific mood. One shows a dark, snow-dusted street scene with ornate iron lampposts casting warm pools of light against the cold, while the other depicts a long, institutional hallway bathed in sickly green and yellow tones, the kind of corridor that belongs somewhere between a crumbling prison and a psychiatric facility.

Neither image reveals characters or plot, but both speak volumes about the oppressive texture of Gotham City Reeves is continuing to build.

Hull was brought on as production designer by director Matt Reeves, having previously won Emmy Awards for his work on ‘Andor’ and ‘Chernobyl.’ His reputation for building real, physical environments rather than relying on virtual production techniques was a major factor in his selection for the project.

His approach on ‘Andor’ was specifically noted for rejecting the Volume in favor of genuine constructed sets, and that philosophy carries significant implications for ‘The Batman Part II,’ given that the original film did make use of the Volume for several pivotal sequences, including the rooftop confrontation between Batman and Catwoman. Hull’s presence behind the scenes strongly suggests the sequel will lean harder into practical, tactile world-building.

Robert Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne, with Jeffrey Wright and Colin Farrell also confirmed back as Commissioner Jim Gordon and Oz Cobb. The sequel is set a few weeks after the events of ‘The Penguin’ and exists separately from James Gunn’s main DCU.

Matt Reeves has teased that the sequel will break new ground for characters within the Batman mythology, with the script having already received high praise from returning cast members. ‘The Batman Part II’ is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027.

For a sequel carrying this much anticipation, Hull’s quiet Instagram post functions as something closer to a statement of intent than a casual behind-the-scenes tease. If those corridors and lamplit streets are any indication, Gotham is about to feel even more inescapable than before.
