Fans of The Boys are getting ready for the end of the series as the final episode of season 5 is set to arrive next week on Prime Video. The show will wrap up its long-running story with episode 8, which officially marks the conclusion of the Prime Video hit, according to reports and release details shared by AMC Theatres and the streaming platform.

The series has built a strong following over the years, and the final season has been filled with major twists and big story turns. After the events of episode 7, viewers are now waiting to see how the final showdown with Homelander will play out, as the story moves toward its conclusion.

One of the biggest talking points ahead of the finale is its runtime. AMC Theatres confirmed that the final episode will run for 1 hour and 5 minutes. This has surprised some fans who expected a longer finale to wrap up the story, especially given how much is still happening in the plot.

Some viewers have already shared concerns online about whether that runtime will be enough. One fan wrote on X, “The Boys finale needs to be about 2.5 hours long.” Another added, “The finale of The Boys only being an hour and not two is baffling to me. How are we wrapping this s** up in two episodes??? I feel like there’s still so much to do??”*

The release schedule has also been confirmed. In the UK, new episodes of The Boys season 5 arrive on Prime Video at 8am. The final episode will also be shown early in some cinemas in the US and Canada, where it is scheduled for a 9:30pm screening on May 19, ahead of the streaming release.

Showrunner Eric Kripke has also spoken in past interviews about how the series ending came together. Speaking to CBR, he explained that the decision involved discussions with the studio and streaming platform. He said, “I don’t have the power to just say, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna end it, and that’s it, you guys.’ They’re the ones who own it, and they’re making money off it, right?”

He added, “You have to say to them, ‘So, this thing that’s really profitable for you, I need you to end it for creative integrity,’ and that takes some convincing.”

Kripke also said the team reached a shared understanding about ending the show, adding, “To their credit, I think they really believed in the creativity and really believed in what the writers and I were trying to do, and then they let us get away with it.”

The final episode is expected to bring closure to the long-running story, with fans now focused on how everything will come together in the last hour of the series.
