‘The Boys’ Season 5 Under Fire as Karl Urban Likes Viral Critical Post
Karl Urban has sparked conversation after reacting to criticism about The Boys season five, as fans continue to question the direction of the final stretch of the series.
The show, which is now close to its series finale after nearly seven years on air, has been one of Amazon’s biggest hits. It built a strong fan base and was praised for its sharp writing and bold take on superheroes. But the final season has not landed well with everyone, with some viewers saying the story feels messy and uneven.
Much of the backlash has focused on certain plot choices and what fans see as unnecessary storylines. According to comments circulating online, some viewers feel parts of the season feel like filler and do not connect well with earlier events in the show.
Karl Urban, who plays Billy Butcher, added fuel to the discussion after he liked an Instagram Reel from user @euro.pilled. In the video, the creator directly criticised the season and said, “The Boys season five is fumbling so fcking bad. Don’t get me wrong, the latest episode was very entertaining, it’s just that it doesn’t make any fcking sense,” as reported from the viral post.
The same video also questioned character decisions in the show, including the handling of Black Noir. The creator said, “First and foremost, the thing that pissed me off the most about this episode is that they would, for the second time, kill off Black Noir for no reason whatsoever.”
They also added criticism about other parts of the episode, pointing to character actions that they felt did not fit the story. The video itself has been widely shared and discussed across social media.

Fan reactions in the comments under related posts have also been mixed, with some agreeing with the criticism. One comment said, “What they did to Kimiko’s character should be considered a crime,” while another added, “The whole time watching Noir get choked out, all I could think was ‘Did he forget he could fly?’”
Series creator Eric Kripke also addressed the backlash in an interview with TV Guide. He responded to concerns about pacing and story direction, saying, “None of the things that happen in the last few episodes will matter if you don’t flesh out the characters,” as reported by TV Guide.
He also pushed back on expectations for constant action, adding, “I’m getting a lot of online dissatisfaction, to put it politely. And I’m like, ‘What are you expecting? Are you expecting a huge battle scene every episode?’”
The conversation around the final season continues to grow as the series moves toward its ending, with both fans and cast reactions keeping the debate active online.
