‘The Boys’ Star Karl Urban Reveals What He Thinks Is the Worst Superpower
Karl Urban recently shared his thoughts on what he believes is the worst kind of superpower, and his answer has started conversations among fans of superhero movies and shows.
The comments came during a discussion connected to The Boys, the hit superhero series where Urban plays Billy Butcher. While talking about different powers seen in comics and films, Urban joked that bow-and-arrow style heroes might have one of the least impressive abilities when compared to gods, aliens, and people who can fly or shoot lasers.
Urban made sure not to completely insult those characters though, saying, “No disrespect to those guys.” Even with the joke, his comments quickly caught attention online because some of the most popular comic book heroes actually fall into that category.

Marvel fans immediately thought of Hawkeye, played by Jeremy Renner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Over in DC, Green Arrow is one of the best-known archers, famously played by Stephen Amell in the Arrow series.
Both characters are highly skilled fighters and tacticians, but unlike heroes such as Superman, Thor, or Scarlet Witch, they do not have supernatural powers. They mostly rely on training, precision, special arrows, and quick thinking.
That is part of the reason some people see those abilities as “lame” compared to more powerful heroes. In worlds filled with magic, flying heroes, super strength, and reality-bending powers, showing up with a bow can seem underwhelming at first glance. Fans often joke about how strange it is that characters with arrows are expected to survive battles against giant monsters, robots, or cosmic threats.
At the same time, many viewers argue that characters like Hawkeye and Green Arrow are interesting exactly because they are more grounded. They are regular humans trying to survive in impossible situations. Unlike heroes born with powers, they depend on skill, discipline, and strategy.
The Boys itself often plays with these ideas by making fun of superhero stereotypes and questioning what powers would actually be useful in real life. Urban’s comments fit perfectly with the show’s style of humor.
Some fans online agreed with him and joked that archery-based heroes would probably struggle in a real superhuman battle. Others defended those characters, pointing out that Hawkeye and Green Arrow have survived for decades because of their intelligence and fighting abilities, not because of flashy powers.
Even though Urban’s answer was clearly playful, it sparked another debate about what actually makes a superhero cool. Is it raw power, or is it what a character does with the abilities they have?
