‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Begins Filming with Original Cast and a New Twist

The stylish world of The Devil Wears Prada is officially coming back, and filming has already started. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all returning for the sequel. This time, they’ll be joined by Kenneth Branagh, who will play Miranda Priestly’s husband.
The news came straight from Disney’s 20th Century Studios on Instagram, where they posted a teaser image showing a pair of red high heels.
The original movie came out in 2006 and was based on Lauren Weisberger’s book. It told the story of Andy Sachs, a young woman trying to make it in journalism who lands a job at a high-fashion magazine called Runway.
Her boss, Miranda Priestly, is cold, demanding, and powerful. The story was loosely inspired by Weisberger’s real-life experience working for Anna Wintour at Vogue.
Now, almost 20 years later, the story continues. According to reports, the sequel will focus on Miranda trying to keep her career alive as print magazines lose power in the digital age. She needs help from a luxury fashion company to get advertising money, and that company is where her former assistant, played by Emily Blunt, now works as a top executive. That sets the stage for a new kind of face-off.
It’s still unclear what role Anne Hathaway’s Andy will play in the sequel. At the end of the first movie, she left Runway and took a job at a newspaper. Whether she gets pulled back into the fashion world or stays away hasn’t been revealed yet.
Director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna are also back for this second chapter. The film is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
In a very interesting twist, this news came just days after Anna Wintour announced she’s stepping down as editor-in-chief of Vogue after 37 years. That real-life moment makes this fictional story feel even more timely.
“Gird your loins,” as the famous line goes, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially on the way.
