Today, June 16, is the day that the long-anticipated DC movie ‘The Flash’ finally hits theaters after spending years in development hell and countless other behind-the-scenes problems. As DC fans are going to theaters, gathering their thoughts, and waiting to see the movie’s commercial result for the opening weekend, we are already looking forward to upcoming DC projects and everything that James Gunn’s DC era will bring us.

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn previously stated that ‘The Flash’ is set to be a breaking point between DCEU and DCU since Blue Beetle, the titular superhero of DC’s next movie, is considered the first official DCU hero. However, DCU’s first official movie will be Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy,’ which is set to be released in July 2025. As for ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ which will close the DCEU as we know it, we’ll have to wait and see where that movie fits between those two cinematic universes.

‘The Flash’ director returns for another DC project!

Last February, James Gunn announced the first five DCU movies, including his ‘Superman: Legacy’ and ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ which is set to introduce a new Batman for the franchise after ‘The Flash’ marked the last appearance for Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader.

According to Variety, ‘The Flash’ director Andy Muschietti has inked a deal with DC Studios to direct ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ which won’t only introduce a new cinematic Batman, but also mark the debut of live-action Damien Wayne, the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul who is also the fifth character that donned the mantle of Robin. The movie is announced as the introduction to Bat-family in DCU.

Andy Muschietti is an Argentine filmmaker who came onto the scene with his 2013 movie ‘Mama.’ Before he started working at DC, he was best known for directing the two-part movie adaptation of ‘It,’ based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. His sister Barbara Muschietti is known as his producing partner who produced all of his movies, and she’s also set to produce ‘The Brave and the Bold’ alongside CEOs of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The plot of ‘The Brave and the Bold’ is still kept under wraps, and there is zero information about who could potentially star in the movie. Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman — Part II’ with Robert Pattinson is currently in development as a DC Elseworlds project. So, while we can’t wait to see Pattinson as the Caped Crusader again, we’re also looking forward to finding out who will play World’s Greatest Detective in ‘The Brave and the Bold’ and the future of DCU.

After watching ‘The Flash,’ do you think Muschietti is the right choice to direct ‘The Brave and the Bold’? Are you looking forward to meeting a new on-screen Batman in DCU? Let us know in the comments.
