Jon Favreau – the creator of ‘The Mandalorian‘ TV series – claimed that the script for ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 4 was finished even before Season 3 officially ended, and now it seems that the fourth season might not even happen after all.

Season 3 wrapped up with Moff Gideon seemingly defeated for good and Mando officially adopting Grogu, making him his little apprentice and his son, Din Grogu. They seemed to find peace, which means a completely new threat ought to emerge for Season 4 to happen.

Several weeks after the SAG-AFTRA and writer strikes ended, industry-wide rumors started swirling around about ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 4 getting booted completely and turned into a movie. Then, those rumors got even more legit when we recently heard that Pedro Pascal won’t physically return for ‘The Mandalorian’ due to his commitments on ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 and 2024’s new ‘Gladiator’ film. Instead, he’d only provide Mando’s voiceover.

Those rumors were confirmed several weeks ago when it was announced that a movie focusing on The Mandalorian & Grogu is in development. This new movie, directed by Jon Favreau and produced alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni, is scheduled to begin production in 2024.

Brendan Wayne, known for his role as the physical manifestation of (Pascal provides voice-overs) Din Djarin in ‘The Mandalorian,’ stated on The Chatooine Show on YouTube that there are currently no plans for a season 4 of the series. He mentioned that Lucasfilm and Disney are now focusing on a feature film titled ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu.’ Wayne’s remarks cast doubt on the possibility of another season of the hit series.

No [Season 4]. I know that we’re doing a movie for sure, that’s what I know.

Now, we all know that Lucasfilm and Disney already made plans and announcements about their schedule going into the future, and everyone thought that a Rey Skywalker-led film starring Daisy Ridley was next in line when it came to Star Wars theatrical films, now that the rumors turned out to be true– ‘The Mandalorian’ movie could come first.

Lucasfilm’s continuous lineup of feature films will be spearheaded by The Mandalorian & Grogu, with projects directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni. Additionally, Filoni is actively working on the development of ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, among other upcoming projects.
