If there’s one thing we know about the MCU, it’s that all of the characters and storylines are interconnected because this is simply one massive universe full of different people with their own stories. Of course, in the upcoming ‘The Marvels’ movie, we are set to see three people finding themselves connected, as Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan will have to work together. But there have been recent teasers that suggest the possibility of a familiar Asgardian appearing in the movie. So, are Thor or Valkyrie going to be in ‘The Marvels?’

  • Article Breakdown:
  • The Bifrost could be seen in one of the most recent teasers or TV spots for ‘The Marvels,’ suggesting that there is an Asgardian connection.
  • Thor has been the only one known to be able to use the Bifrost at will because this is one of the capabilities of the Stormbreaker axe.
  • As such, there’s a good chance that either Thor or Valkyrie could be in ‘The Marvels’ because they are currently the most prominent Asgardians in the MCU (not counting Loki).

Thor and Carol have known each other for a while

The next MCU movie on the slate of Marvel Studios is ‘The Marvels,’ which will be released in a few weeks. There is no doubt that there will be three important characters that this movie will be featuring, and that’s why it’s called ‘The Marvels.’ We are talking about Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and two other women who have a connection with her. Yes, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan will also be in this movie as the two other central figures of the storyline.

But while that may be true, we also know that the MCU has always been one universe (or multiverse) that includes many different characters from their own Marvel franchises. So, while the abovementioned characters come from the ‘Captain Marvel’ franchise, there is actually evidence that points to the possibility that one character from a different franchise could be making their way into this movie. We are talking about the ‘Thor’ franchise.

Of course, Thor and Captain Marvel have known each other for a while because Carol Danvers was there in the aftermath of Thanos’ Snap. Thor and Carol even had a moment with one another during the earlier part of ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ Carol eventually became an honorary member of the Avengers as she constantly communicated with the other Avengers in the five-year gap between the Snap and the Blip. And she was there to help the other Avengers in their fight against Thanos’ massive army.

In a way, when we know that Carol needs all the help she can get in her fight against the Kree in ‘The Marvels,’ it would make sense for her to call Thor. And that’s why the TV spot actually teased the possibility of her calling an Asgardian friend because the Bifrost could be seen in the short scene where Captain Marvel said that she “called a friend.”

Of course, we know that Thor is the only Asgardian who can command the Bifrost at will because he wields Stormbreaker, the only weapon that can summon the Bifrost anywhere and anytime. His familiarity with Carol Danvers also allows us to see a connection between the two characters. And because the ending of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ allowed us to see Thor spend the next few years of his life going on intergalactic adventures with Love, he has all the time in the world to help out a friend in need.

The possibility of Thor appearing in ‘The Marvels’ also allows us to see more and more Marvel characters interacting with one another before the next big crossover or Avengers movie. Allowing Thor to appear in ‘The Marvels’ to meet Kamala and Monica would make him familiar with them, paving the way for a future team-up in a crossover film. And this is why there’s a chance that the god of thunder will appear in ‘The Marvels.’

There is a Danvers-Valkyrie romance rumor

Then again, we know that the entire ‘The Marvels’ movie is all about women empowerment because this is the first time that the three central figures of an MCU movie are all women. So, while Thor won’t be an important figure in the film if he makes a cameo, his appearance might shift the attention toward him, given that he is still one of the most popular MCU characters.

As such, fans have started believing that the Asgardian who could be making a cameo in ‘The Marvels’ is King Valkyrie, who is now busy leading the Asgardians on Earth. While she may be a bit too busy with her job as the Queen of Asgard, she wouldn’t be too busy for a friend, especially if there are rumors about the possibility of her being romantically involved with Carol.

After all, Valkyrie has nothing to do with the Kree and has no reason to help Carol out. On the other hand, Thor has more reasons to help Danvers because he spends his entire life protecting the Nine Realms and helping innocent people all over the universe. So, why would Valkyrie even be there to help Carol? The answer is romance.

There are actually rumors suggesting a romantic link between Valkyrie and Captain Marvel, and even Tessa Thompson addressed such rumors:

“I, you know, the heart wants what it wants. I don’t… I can’t speak yet to Valkyrie. She hasn’t had a ton of time to focus too squarely on her love life since she’s been besought with a lot of kingly duties. But there are a lot of amazing men, women, and other-worldly creatures inside of the MCU and certainly in the canon of characters that could enter the MCU. So, I think there’s so many fish in the sea. She’s single. She’s ready to mingle. And I love, both in the comics, Carol and I… Brie Larson is a good friend of mine, and I love spending time with her. So, I wouldn’t be mad at it, for sure.”

If that’s the case, Valkyrie might appear in ‘The Marvels’ to up the girl power level in the movie while also allowing fans to see how she might be involved with Captain Marvel. But what about Thor?

Thor might still appear in the movie because, as mentioned, he is the only one capable of commanding the Bifrost at will. But there’s a good chance he will only show up to summon the Bifrost and allow Valkyrie to help Danvers. Allowing Thor to make an appearance, albeit short, would also allow him to become more familiar with both Kamala and Monica, who are both going to be
