Tom Holland has never exactly hidden his football obsession, and it has followed him just about everywhere over the years, from red carpets to talk show couches to, apparently, the set of one of the biggest films of his career.

Between his Spider-Man commitments and now his role in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ the actor has become almost as well known among British fans for his Tottenham Hotspur fandom as he is for his blockbuster resume.

That devotion has been documented plenty of times before, but it usually shows up in the form of match day appearances or excited reactions to a big win rather than a direct comparison to his own career achievements. This time, Holland went further than usual, putting his football loyalty up against the single highest honor his profession has to offer.

Holland recently admitted he would rather see Spurs win the Premier League than win an Academy Award himself. Holland told the outlet plainly that he would rather Spurs win the league over an Oscar, a statement that instantly reframed just how deep his fandom actually runs.

Holland has never hidden his love for the club, regularly appearing at matches, following transfer news closely, and even trying in the past to convince major stars to sign with the Lilywhites. That history makes this latest comment feel less like a throwaway joke and more like a genuine window into where his priorities sit outside of acting.

His fandom recently collided directly with his work life during production on ‘The Odyssey.’ Holland recalled watching the closing stages of Tottenham’s Europa League final against Manchester United while filming Nolan’s movie in Los Angeles, explaining that the production did not allow phones on set, so he had no way of following the score directly.

He told GQ he kept sneaking over to crew members he knew had their phones to ask for updates, eventually catching the final ten minutes of the match during his lunch break before heading back to set full of energy to shoot what he described as a fantastic scene.

Holland was especially thrilled for Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min, who finally lifted his first piece of silverware after a decade with the north London club, telling GQ he was incredibly happy for him. That Europa League win ended a 17-year trophy drought for the club, making it easy to understand why Holland now considers a Premier League title worth more to him than an Oscar of his own.

Which Would You Choose?

Reaction from the Tottenham fanbase to Holland’s latest comments has been overwhelmingly positive, with supporters praising him for his unfiltered commitment to the club despite his global fame. With ‘The Odyssey’ set to open in theaters on July 17 and awards season chatter already building around the film, it looks like Holland’s true dream trophy has nothing to do with a golden statue at all.
