The On Set Moment When Jennifer Garner Actually Bit Her Costar
Jennifer Garner recently shared a wild memory from early in her career that still sounds hard to believe. The story came up while she was speaking at a press event for season two of her Apple TV series The Last Thing He Told Me. According to Garner, running into stuntman Sala Baker again brought everything flooding back.
The two first worked together almost twenty years ago on the 2007 action film The Kingdom. Garner explained that the movie’s director, Peter Berg, wanted the fight scenes to feel as real as possible. That meant very little planning and a lot of trust between the actors.
During those scenes, Berg encouraged them to forget careful choreography. The goal was simple survival. Garner said she was told to do whatever she had to do in the moment, even if things got messy.
Things did get messy. In the middle of one fight, Garner climbed onto Baker’s back and reacted on pure instinct. She admitted that she bit his ear hard enough to cause real damage.
She later joked that there is even a photo showing part of his ear missing. She compared the moment to the famous boxing incident when Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield, a comparison that made people laugh but also wince.
Garner shared this story openly while talking to reporters, making it clear she now sees it as part of her early action years. At the time, though, it was intense and very real. There were no second takes or safety nets in that moment.
Fast forward to today, and Garner and Baker are once again working together on The Last Thing He Told Me. When they reunited on set, the crew was reportedly nervous. Some even asked Garner if she could take it easy this time.
Her response was playful but confident. She joked that they should step aside because she and Baker were just fine. She added that she still felt like there was unfinished business from their first fight.
Beyond the physical stories, Garner also talked about why her current show connects with viewers. She used the phrase competency p**n to describe the appeal. For her, it is about watching smart adults handle tough situations without falling apart.
She explained that her character, Hannah, fits that idea well. Hannah plans ahead, stays calm, and does not panic when things go wrong. Garner believes audiences enjoy seeing capable people on screen, especially right now.
Season two of The Last Thing He Told Me premieres on Apple TV on February 20. The new episodes jump forward five years and deal with the fallout from a major twist involving Hannah’s husband. Garner returns alongside Angourie Rice, and Reese Witherspoon continues as an executive producer.
Outside of this series, Garner has stayed busy with a mix of acting and producing. She has become a familiar face on streaming platforms, often choosing grounded and emotional roles. Her career has slowly shifted away from pure action toward deeper character work.
She is also rumored to be involved in several upcoming adaptations. One of the most talked-about projects is The Five-Star Weekend, based on the novel by Elin Hilderbrand. The film is expected to star Regina Hall and is being developed for release later this year.
