‘What if…?’ Season 2 already premiered the first three episodes. The first one dealt with the scenario in which Nebula, after defecting from the Black Order, joins the Nova Corps and saves Xandar from Ronan’s occupation and Nova Prime’s sinister plans.

She has gotten quite a big help from Howard the Duck, Miek, Korg, and our favorite Guardian of the Galaxy, Groot. Groot appeared in the first episode in a couple of scenes, and despite not having a major role, the end credits revealed that Groot was, for the first time in forever, voiced by a different voice actor as Voice actor Fred Tatisciore took over for Vin Diesel.

Diesel returned to voice absolutely all projects that featured Groot, both the adult and baby versions. Vin Diesel has earned around 55 million dollars for voicing Groot in four Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. This means Vin Diesel earned almost 14 million dollars per movie, making him one of the top earners in the Guardians of the Galaxy cast. Besides voicing Groot, Vin Diesel played a huge part in advertising movies because his name alone is worth a lot of money commercially.

Vin also returned to voice the adorable tree just a few months ago in the second season of ‘I am Groot.’ The reason for Diesel not returning to voice the tree is unclear at the moment, but not every live-action actor returned to voice its animated counterpart. Several other well-known MCU actors returned to lend their voices for the premiere, including Karen Gillan as Nebula, Michael Rooker as Yondu, and Jude Law as Yon-Rogg. Additionally, Korg, Garthan Saal, and Howard the Duck made appearances with their original live-action actors reprising their roles.

There’s also the fact that Diesel is facing a lawsuit from his former personal assistant, Asta Jonasson. She alleges that during the 2010 filming of ‘Fast Five,’ Diesel sexually assaulted her in an Atlanta hotel. The lawsuit claims he overpowered her, ignored her non-consent, and performed a sex act on himself, pinning her against a wall. Jonasson is also suing for wrongful termination, asserting she was fired by Diesel’s production company, One Race Films, mere hours after the alleged incident. Diesel’s lawyer denies the claims in their entirety. But this allegation came long after the work on ‘What If…?’ was wrapped up, so it can’t be about that.
