Plenty of MCU projects are in development or bound to soon be released, but none gets the fans hyped as ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ a reboot of the already existing Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ show, or that was the original plan in any case. Yes, the live-action Daredevil Universe was supposed to be rebooted with the new MCU-based show, and fans were disappointed, to say the least, because this meant that some of the cast members that we’ve grown to love won’t return.

According to certain rumors, Karen and Foggy were supposed to die off-screen between the events of ‘Daredevil’ season 3 and ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’ But as soon as the executives actually saw the first few episodes of the upcoming show, some much-needed changes were made, and the original plan was scrapped. With the new creative team in place, the show is ready to move in a new direction, seemingly as a continuation of the already existing ‘Daredevil’ show. This is something that D’Onofrio confirmed in his interview with THR.

During our restart of all the creative on Daredevil: Born Again, all the creatives got together and said, ‘Look, this is how we’ve got to do it now,’” D’Onofrio says. “So we are for sure only speaking about it in terms of being directly connected to the original Daredevil, and that’s a great thing. It brings in a lot of cool stories and all the collateral story that happened in those original three seasons.”

The fact that rumors point in the direction of Foggy and Karen returning to ‘Born Again’ also confirms what D’Onofrio is saying, and the fact that with the release of ‘Echo’ Netflix’s Defenders Saga was canonized and added to the MCU timeline speaks volumes about executives plans to simply continue the already established story that fans liked. D’Onofrio also commented on ‘Echo’ post-credit scene that heavily implies that Kingpin will join the New York Mayoral race, and this is where his character will be at the start of ‘Daredevil: Born Again.’

“I don’t think he’s changed; I think he’s enlightened,” D’Onofrio says. “I haven’t seen a lot of the episodes of Echo. So, in my mind, after everything goes down with Maya, he gets on a plane, and … by the end of that flight, he decides, ‘If I want to be all powerful, this is what I’m going to do.’ That’s the most I can tell you.”

In any case, ‘Born Again’ seems to be on the right track after all. The show is supposed to be released sometime in 2025.
