Wendell Pierce Talks About Playing Perry White in the Upcoming ‘Superman’: “You May Know More About it More Than I Do”

James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman’ is currently in the middle of production, and fans are really excited for the new chapter in Superman’s live-action projects. As far as the cast goes, 90 % of names have already been revealed, and recently we’ve learned that Wendell Pierce will be portraying Perry White in the upcoming movie.

Perry White is best known as the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, the newspaper where Clark Kent and Lois Lane work. He is often depicted as a seasoned journalist who is dedicated to seeking out truth and upholding journalistic integrity. He often serves as a mentor and father figure to Clark Kent, providing guidance and support in both his professional and personal life.

During a recent appearance on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ Wendell commented on the role and he admitted that he doesn’t know all that much about the role or the lore surrounding Superman and there is a very good reason for that.

I never grew up reading comics, so I relied on my friends to tell me about it. I’m excited about this, you know.

James Gunn shouldn’t take this too personaly however as Wendell had trouble recalling some of his other notable roles. It’s not as surprising considering what kind of a rich and extensive career he has had. The most important thing is his enthusiasm, everything else can be learned as they are working. Wendell admitted that Seth might know more about the character and the role than he can, due to his lack of knowledge about superhero stuff in general.

So far, the main cast of the upcoming movie consists of David Corenswet, who will portray Clark Kent/Superman with Michael Holt as Lex Luthor on the opposite side. Rachel Brosnahan takes on the role of Lois Lane, while Isabela Merced is set to play Hawkgirl. Edi Gathegi will depict Mister Terrific, and Nathan Fillion will bring to life Guy Gardner/Green Lantern. Anthony Carrigan is cast as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/Engineer. Sara Sampaio is set to portray Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Sean Gunn will appear as Maxwell Lord.
