One of the things that we found out in the original Star Wars trilogy was that Leia Organa was also strong in the Force because she was the daughter of Anakin Skywalker. In that regard, her potential in the Force was similar to Luke’s own potential. That means she trained as a Jedi at one point in her life before abandoning her training. But what lightsaber color did Leia use?

Princess Leia used a blue lightsaber. That means that her Kyber crystal turned blue, just like her father’s own Kyber crystal also turned blue. However, she couldn’t use her lightsaber for long because she handed it to Luke after she abandoned her training.

We saw during the events of ‘Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker’ that Rey used Leia’s lightsaber more as she used this blade in the final battle against Palpatine. The fact that the lightsaber was blue also reflects how similar Leia was to her father, who also used a blue lightsaber. Now, let’s talk more about Leia Organa’s lightsaber.

Leia trained as a Padawan

During the events of the original trilogy, we learned that Luke and Leia were actually siblings and that Leia was also the daughter of Darth Vader, who probably never found out that Leia was his daughter. Whatever the case, we know Leia was also strong in the Force because she had Skywalker blood flowing through her veins. And that means that, as Luke’s twin, her potential was just as high as her brother’s.

While we didn’t see Leia using her powers a lot in the original trilogy, we found out in the sequel trilogy that she trained as a Jedi Padawan after the fall of Emperor Palpatine.

Leia went with Luke to train under him for around a year. And Luke even noticed that Leia progressed as a lightsaber duelist far faster than he did, showing that she was a naturally gifted Force wielder.

But Leia eventually decided to drop her Jedi training. That was because she had a vision that allowed her to see that her son, Ben Solo, would die if she continued her training.

On top of that, she also feared the inner darkness in her. This was the same inner darkness that took over Anakin Skywalker, and Leia feared that she might not have the strength to withstand the temptation of this inner darkness if she ever saw her son dying.

In that regard, out of fear for whatever the future held, Leia quit being a Jedi. Instead, she focused more on her political career, which also failed when a political rival revealed that she was the daughter of Darth Vader. And Leia also eventually saw her son falling to the dark side.

Did Leia have a pink lightsaber?

Of course, some fans might think Leia once had a pink lightsaber because it would complement her status as a female Force wielder. But that was never the case because she never wielded a pink lightsaber.

There has never been a pink lightsaber color in the Star Wars continuity. The closest to this color was the magenta lightsaber introduced in ‘Star Wars Jedi’ as one of Cal Kestis’ lightsaber color choices in the video game. This magenta lightsaber, however, is closer to violet than it is to pink. Still, it resembles pink and is the perfect lightsaber color for those who may want to get in touch with their feminine side.

Returning to Leia, she never held a pink lightsaber or magenta one. Instead, the one that she owned was a blue lightsaber. That means Leia’s lightsaber color was the same as her father’s, as we can only conclude that her Kyber crystal turned blue after she resonated with it.

This could also mean that Leia was more similar to her father than she thought she was, as those who owned blue lightsaber colors were said to be brave and courageous in pursuing justice and peace.

Leia, of course, was always the more courageous of the two Skywalker children, even though Luke is also brave in his own right. She also started fighting for peace and justice as a little girl. And it makes sense that she had a blue lightsaber as her headstrong and courageous nature was similar to her father’s own personality.

On the other hand, Luke had a green lightsaber because he was more of a tranquil and wise character. Leia bought the sass and the courage, while Luke brought the wisdom. And that’s why Luke and Leia had different lightsaber colors even though they were twins.

Which lightsaber form did Leia use?

Even though Leia had a blue lightsaber that differed from Luke’s own green lightsaber, she actually trained in the same combat style Luke used to defeat Darth Vader. Leia was exceptionally skilled in using Form V: Shien and Djem So, the same styles that Anakin and Luke perfected during their respective times as Jedi.

Leia continued the Skywalker legacy of using Form V as her lightsaber combat form of choice. Luke said she was a very skilled user of this form as she progressed faster than he anticipated. And while Leia eventually quit her life as a Jedi, she never forgot her lessons.

After Luke’s death, Leia trained Rey to use the lightsaber as she taught the things that Luke taught her. Rey was also skilled in the Skywalker family’s favorite Form V fighting style. And Rey also ended up using Leia’s lightsaber in the final battle against Palpatine as she used it in conjunction with the Skywalker Lightsaber that could be traced all the way back to Anakin.
