Even the birds on the branch know how big a movie franchise the Marvel Cinematic Universe is. And although its success is built on dozens of box-office successful cinema blockbusters, the franchise expanded even more since 2021 with TV shows that have been airing on Disney+. There are a lot of new TV shows in active development, and one of the most anticipated ones is Daredevil: Born Again!

Marvel fans already know the history behind this show. On-screen Daredevil we have today first appeared in his own Netflix series that premiered in 2015, with Charlie Cox playing the titular role. The series aired for three seasons on Netflix and remained one of the best superhero series we have ever seen on the small screen. The series spawned several spin-offs, and Cox’s performance as Marr Murdock and Vicent D’Onofrio’s performance as Kingpin were widely praised.

In 2019, Netflix was forced to end the series after Disney took back the rights to Marvel characters, and that act was followed by fans’ huge online campaign to revive the series under Disney’s umbrella. For some time, it seemed like Marvel Studios was ignoring those claims, until 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home featured Cox’s Murdock as Peter Parker’s lawyer. And at the same time, Vincent D’Onofrio returned as Kingpin in the Hawkeye series on Disney+.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige announced new movie and TV projects set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the announced projects was Daredevil: Born Again. The original Born Again comic book was published in 1986. It was written by Frank Miller. The TV show will premiere in 2024 on Disney+, consisting of 18 episodes, making it the longest live-action Disney+ Marvel series.

Daredevil: Born Again is officially considered a reboot and not a continuation of Netflix’s Daredevil series. Fortunately for the fans, the series will feature some very known names that we have watched not only in the Netflix Daredevil series but also in some spin-offs that the series has spawned. So, let’s take a look at which known faces and which new faces we will watch in Daredevil: Born Again.

Confirmed actors for Daredevil: Born Again

Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil

Of course, you can’t have a Daredevil series without Daredevil, and luckily for all of us, the fan-favorite Charlie Cox is back in the saddle. Cox debuted as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, aka The Man Without Fear, in 2015, played the character in three seasons of his own series, and reprised the role in the crossover series The Defenders and then in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home and 2022’s She-Hulk series.

Apart from Daredevil: Born Again, Charlie Cox is also set to appear in the upcoming Echo series, and he’s also set to voice the character in the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year. Previous reports have been saying that Daredevil will be “everywhere” in this current saga of the MCU, so we’re just waiting to see if he will appear in the upcoming Avengers movies. Remember that he appeared on the big screen only in No Way Home, where he only played a small role as Matt Murdock, but not as Daredevil.

Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin

Just like Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio debuted as Daredevil’s archnemesis Wilson Fisk, also known as the notorious crimelord Kingpin, in Netflix’s Daredevil series. D’Onofrio played the main role in the first and third seasons of the series, while in the second season, he appeared in a reduced role. The fans widely praised D’Onofrio’s performance, and everybody cheered when he reprised the role in the last two episodes of the Hawkeye series on Disney+.

At the end of the Hawkeye series, Kingpin was seemingly killed off by Maya Lopez / Echo (in a very naive way, we’d add). Still, it was obvious that Marvel Studios won’t get rid of such a character after only two episodes in mainstream MCU. D’Onofrio is confirmed to reprise the role not only in the upcoming Daredevil reboot but also in the upcoming Echo series, in which Alaqua Cox will reprise the role she played in Hawkeye. We can’t wait for another rematch between Daredevil and Kingpin.

Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / The Punisher

Many actors in history played the character of the Punisher; Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane, and Ray Stevenson. Still, neither of them did manage to leave a significant mark as Jon Bernthal did. Bernthal debuted as Frank Castle, also known as the anti-hero Punisher in the second season of Daredevil in 2016, and he earned his own spin-off series in 2017. After two successful seasons, the series ended in 2019.

Bernthal’s performance as The Punisher was also widely praised. Fans were literally cheering when THR reported that he’s set to return in Daredevil: Born Again, and the report was confirmed by Bernthal himself on social media shortly after. Judging only by these three names, it looks like we can expect one wild ride through these 18 announced episodes of the reboot.

Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk

Update: A few hours after this article was first published, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Sandrine Holt, who was previously cast in an undisclosed role, will be playing Vanessa Fisk. This is the first instance of a character recast for this reboot series. Vanessa Fisk was played by Ayelet Zurer in the original Netflix series. Vanessa is the art dealer who eventually became Kingpin’s wife. She was faithful to him even after she found out about his criminal businesses.

Actors that could potentially appear in Daredevil: Born Again

Apart from these three actors, there’s still a whole list of names that could potentially appear in this series. Either because they were part of the original Daredevil series or because they’re MCU characters that are somehow connected to Daredevil’s character.

Shortly after the announcement of Bernthal’s return as the Punisher, another report surfaced, claiming that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson, who played Karen Page and Foggy Nelson in the original Daredevil series, are NOT expected to return for the reboot. On the other hand, there are some characters that Matt Murdock has already met in the MCU, and they could potentially reunite in his own series, like Spider-Man or She-Hulk.

There are no words in Matt Murdock that will be accompanied by some other characters we’ve previously met in the Netflix shows, like Jessica Jones, considering she’s also one of those characters the fans are hoping to see again.

Some of the new actors that will join the MCU through Born Again are Sandrine Holt, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, and Nikki M. James. Apart from Holt who was cast as Vanessa Fisk, the others have been cast in still-unknown roles.

Matt Corman and Chris Ord created Daredevil: Born Again for Disney+. The series is currently in production, and it’s currently set to premiere in early 2024.
