David Duchovny Reveals the Role He Considers His Greatest

David Duchovny has named what he considers the best role of his career, and it might surprise some fans.

In a recent interview with Business Insider, the actor revealed that a relatively unknown 2023 film called Reverse the Curse stands out above all others.

Reverse the Curse is adapted from Duchovny’s own novel, Bucky F**king Dent, and he not only stars in it but also wrote the screenplay.

The movie is a romantic comedy about a man named Ted who moves in with his dying father, Marty. To lift his father’s spirits, Ted enlists friends and a grief counselor to fake a winning streak by the Boston Red Sox. Duchovny plays the father, Marty, a role he describes as challenging and different from anything he has done before.

“I have to say I’m probably most proud of Reverse the Curse at this point as a work of art or commercial art. I loved playing Marty, the father. It was never something that I had planned on doing…I wrote this story originally as a screenplay 15 years ago,” Duchovny told Business Insider.

The actor explained that the timing of the project made the role even more meaningful. “I got close to doing it a few times. I’m happy that it took long enough for me to age out of that part and to have to confront myself playing Marty because it’s not a role that I’ve ever played before. It forced me to do certain things that I haven’t been forced to do before. And I really enjoyed that challenge,” he added.

The film also stars Stephanie Beatriz, Pamela Adlon, and Logan Marshall-Green. Duchovny’s performance as Marty has been widely praised, and the movie has already won several industry awards.

For Duchovny, Reverse the Curse represents both a personal and professional achievement. It allowed him to step into a completely new type of role, drawing on years of creative experience as both a writer and actor.
