Matthew Lillard Teases He Wants a Role in the DC Universe

Matthew Lillard is hinting that he’s ready to step into the DC Universe, and fans are excited about the possibilities.

Speaking about his longtime friend James Gunn, Lillard told reporters, “James Gunn is one of my dear friends… he wrote ‘Scooby-Doo’ 1 & 2… I keep waiting for that invitation.” He added with a laugh, “If you run into James Gunn, tell him I’m available…I keep waiting for that invitation, I don’t know if it’s lost in the mail.”

It’s worth noting that Lillard already has a connection to DC thanks to the long-running Scooby-Doo comics published by DC. Fans quickly started speculating which roles he could play in the DC Universe, with suggestions ranging from the Joker to Swamp Thing.

Lillard has a busy schedule ahead. He is set to play William Afton in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, which is currently in post-production, and he will also reprise his role as Stu in Scream 7, also in post-production.

On the TV side, he is joining the Marvel Universe with a role in Daredevil: Born Again season 2. He is additionally set to play Principal Grayle in the upcoming TV reboot of Carrie, which is currently filming.

Fans are excited to see what Lillard might bring to the DC Universe, and it seems he’s ready to answer the call whenever it comes.
