Timothée Chalamet has given fans a surprise peek at his new look for Paul Atreides in Dune: Part Three.

The actor shared the buzzcut transformation on social media, sparking excitement across the internet as filming for the final chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi saga continues.

The third film in the Dune series is based on Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah and will conclude Villeneuve’s ambitious trilogy. The movie, directed and co-written by Villeneuve alongside Jon Spaihts, is being described as the grand finale of the saga that began in 2021.

Production officially started in July at Origo Film Studios in Budapest, with some scenes also being shot in Liwa Oasis, Abu Dhabi. Unlike the previous movies, Dune: Part Three is being filmed on traditional film stock, with select sequences shot using IMAX cameras. This marks the first time since Villeneuve’s 2010 film Incendies that he’s chosen to shoot on film instead of digitally.

The cast once again includes Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, and Anya Taylor-Joy. Joining them this time is Robert Pattinson in an undisclosed role.

According to Warner Bros. Pictures, Dune: Part Three is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Fans are already speculating about where the story will take Paul after the events of Dune: Part Two, and Chalamet’s new look hints at big changes for his character.
