Chris Hemsworth Reveals the Film That Made Him Want to Act
Before Thor became a household name, Chris Hemsworth was just a teen fascinated by epic stories.
In an interview with Variety, he revealed that Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies were a big inspiration. “I don’t mean I wanted to act in them: I wanted to be there, in Middle-earth, fighting Orcs,” Hemsworth said.
Though he never got a role in the films, Hemsworth’s passion for Tolkien’s world stuck with him. He’s been spotted purchasing copies of The Lord of the Rings, showing he’s a longtime fan. Interestingly, Hemsworth and Jackson have also invested in the same company, creating a real-world connection to the legendary filmmaker.
Hemsworth’s acting career took off with a role in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot, which helped him gain international recognition. Since then, he’s been part of major projects, most famously the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thor.
Looking ahead, Hemsworth has several films in the pipeline. In 2026, he is set to appear in Crime 101 as Davis and return as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday. He’s also working on Stuntnuts: The Movie and Subversion, keeping him busy over the next few years.
It’s clear that fantasy and adventure have always shaped Hemsworth’s career choices. From dreaming about Middle-earth to starring in superhero epics, his love for epic storytelling continues to guide him.
It’s inspiring to see how a childhood passion can influence a career so profoundly. What do you think about Hemsworth’s journey from Lord of the Rings fan to global movie star? Share your thoughts in the comments.
