Harrison Ford has spent more than sixty years playing some of the most famous characters in movie history. Now, the 83-year-old actor is hinting that he may be close to the end of his acting journey. He shared these thoughts during a press event on Feb. 3 while talking about his work on the Apple TV+ series Shrinking.

While discussing the show, Ford surprised many people by saying that he would be at peace if this project ended up being his last. He explained that the experience of working on Shrinking has been deeply rewarding in a way that feels different from his past blockbuster roles. He spoke about the quality of the writing and the care put into the story, saying it made him wonder where he could possibly go next.

Ford plays Dr. Paul Rhoades on the series, a therapist living with Parkinson’s disease. He described the role as more than just another job and said he would feel satisfied if his career wrapped up here. He shared that the show gives him a sense of purpose and meaning that he looks for at this stage of his life.

The current season of Shrinking has taken on extra emotional weight with the addition of Michael J. Fox, who appears in a three-episode arc. Fox has lived with Parkinson’s for over three decades. Ford spoke about the pressure he felt portraying the condition alongside someone with real-life experience. He described working with Fox as an incredible honor and praised him for his strength and grace.

Despite the retirement talk, Ford is far from slowing down. As of February, Shrinking has already been renewed for a fourth season, meaning he will continue working on the series. He is also staying busy in film. Last year, he joined the Marvel universe as President Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: Brave New World, where he made his debut as the Red Hulk.

Ford is also being recognized for his lasting impact on acting. He was recently named the 61st recipient of the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award and will be honored at a ceremony on March 1. This recognition comes after another major milestone. He earned his first Emmy nomination last year for his role in Shrinking.

In the past, Ford has joked that he will never truly retire because there will always be roles for older actors. Still, his recent comments suggest he is feeling a sense of closure he has not talked about before.
