Angelina Jolie is reportedly preparing to leave Los Angeles for good, a decision she has been thinking about for years. The 50-year-old Oscar-winning actress has often said that while she loves the United States, she doesn’t always feel connected to the country, especially right now.

Sources close to Jolie told reporters that her time in Hollywood was never meant to be permanent. She stayed mainly because of legal obligations tied to the custody of her children after her high-profile divorce from Brad Pitt.

“I’ve never wanted to live in L.A. full-time,” Jolie has said in past interviews, noting that she remained in the city while her kids were minors. That will change this July, when her youngest children, twins Vivienne and Knox, turn 18.

With her children now reaching adulthood, Jolie is free to live a more international lifestyle. Insiders suggest she wants a quieter life that gives her family more privacy and safety—something she feels is hard to find in Hollywood.

Cambodia is expected to play a big role in her next chapter, a country she has long felt connected to. It’s where she adopted her first child, Maddox, in 2002, and where she began her work with the UNHCR. Jolie has described the experience as life-changing, saying it made her aware of the struggles faced by refugees and shaped her view of the world.

During her years with Pitt, the couple built a large family with both adopted and biological children: Zahara, Pax, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox. Jolie has often said her parenting choices were not meant as a public statement but as a way to give her children a broad, global perspective.

While her personal life is entering a new phase, Jolie’s professional career shows no signs of slowing down. She recently starred in the French drama Couture, playing filmmaker Maxine Walker, which premiered in France this February. The role let her showcase her bilingual skills and her ability to carry a complex, international story.

Jolie is also returning to action films with the upcoming dark thriller Sunny, directed by Eva Sørhaug. She plays a street-smart woman protecting her sons from a dangerous criminal. In addition, she is preparing for The Initiative, a spy film directed by Doug Liman, where she will portray a veteran mentor training the next generation of operatives.

Beyond film, Jolie continues to expand her fashion brand, Atelier Jolie, in New York, signaling a move toward a life less centered on Los Angeles. With her children grown and her work spanning multiple continents, it seems Angelina Jolie is finally crafting the international life she has always envisioned.
