New Netflix Documentary Takes the World by Storm Reaching 14 Million Views
The streaming world was shaken recently as the new docuseries Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model became a huge hit. According to media reports, the three-part series pulled in 14.2 million views during the week of February 16 to 22, making it the most-watched show on the platform for that period.
The series takes a deep look at the popular 2000s reality show, exploring controversies and behind-the-scenes stories that have lingered for years. It features interviews with past winners, well-known judges, and contestants who walked the runway, giving viewers a fresh perspective on the series.
Tyra Banks, the original host and creator of the show, also appears, reflecting on the cultural impact and criticism the show faced over the years. While Reality Check dominated the charts, other programs also attracted big numbers. The third season of the thriller The Night Agent had 8.4 million views in its first week, and Bridgerton’s fourth season remained strong with 6.3 million views in its fourth week.
International shows were also popular, with the South Korean drama The Art of Sarah reaching 10 million views in its second week. German spy series Unfamiliar and the Polish epic Lead Children followed closely, proving global audiences are tuning in despite subtitles.
Movies on the platform also drew viewers. Tyler Perry’s comedy Joe’s College Road Trip had 10.4 million views in its second week. Ridley Scott’s 2012 sci-fi film Prometheus returned to the top with 6.6 million views. The animated series KPop Demon Hunters continued its long run, marking its 36th week on the charts with 6 million views.
Reality Check has sparked a lot of conversation online about the ethics of early reality TV. Tyra Banks has also been busy outside the series, focusing on her ice cream brand, SMiZE & DREAM.
The success of the docuseries shows that audiences are interested in “deep-dive” looks at the past, and the streamer has already teased a new project on mid-2000s teen tabloids that will include former Disney Channel stars.
“We wanted to be honest about what really happened behind the scenes,” Banks said in a recent interview. “People remember the glamour, but there was a lot more going on than anyone knew.” Reality Check proves that revisiting old favorites can still capture global attention, and fans are eager for more retrospectives that dig into the stories behind the headlines.
