Craig Gillespie Confirms ‘Supergirl’ Includes the One Thing That Had Fans Mocking the MCU
Supergirl is already getting attention ahead of its release, and now new details about the film are giving fans even more to talk about.
Director Craig Gillespie recently spoke to Collider and confirmed that the movie will run just under one hour and 50 minutes, including credits. That makes it slightly shorter than Superman, which is expected to go over the two-hour mark.
At the same time, Gillespie said the movie has a post-credits scene but declined to comment on what it is. His response has quickly sparked debate online, especially since many fans expect the new DCU to build a connected story across multiple movies. The silence around it has only made people more curious.
The film stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, marking her first appearance as Supergirl in the rebooted DC Universe. The larger DCU is being shaped by James Gunn and Peter Safran, although Gunn is not directing this particular project.
There are already rumors about what a post-credits scene could tease. Some believe it might connect to a future project like “Man of Tomorrow.” Others think Jason Momoa could show up as Lobo, a character fans have wanted him to play for years. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the speculation is growing. Fans were quick to react to the idea of a possible post-credits tease, and not everyone is excited about it. Some feel these scenes only work if the movie itself delivers.
“Post credit scenes only matter if the movie actually makes you want more. DC needs to earn that excitement first before people will care what comes after the credits.”
Others were more blunt about it.
“Tease? At this point, I think they’re threatening us…”
Another comment questioned the trend entirely.
“So it’s supposed to be normal to have a tease for a teaser now?”
Some fans also pointed to past comments from Gunn about keeping post-credit scenes light.
“It’s going to be a nothing-burger. Gunn has already said all DCU post-credits scenes are going to be something fun and/or a joke.”
And then there are those who are not even sure people will stick around.
“Bold to assume people will wait till the end.”
Despite the mixed reactions, early trailer responses for “Supergirl” have been mostly positive. The film is still keeping a lot of its story under wraps, which is adding to the curiosity.
“Supergirl” is set to hit theaters worldwide on June 26, and whether it has a post-credits scene or not, fans will definitely be watching closely.
