A new trailer for the Norwegian creature film Kraken is bringing deep-sea fear back into focus, showing a mysterious force waking up beneath the ocean.

The story follows marine biologist Johanne, who begins noticing strange and disturbing events while working at a fish farm in Norway. Things take a darker turn after the violent deaths of two teenagers in the area. The investigation leads toward a remote fjord, where something enormous is believed to be hiding in the depths.

The film introduces the idea of a giant mythical creature living far below the surface, described in the trailer as a massive being with many arms, capable of crushing anything it reaches. The setting plays a key role, with the deep waters of Norway’s fjords becoming the center of the mystery.

Kraken features Sara Khorami in the lead role, along with Mikkel Bratt Silset, Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes, Jenny Evensen, and Steinar Klouman Hallert.

The film is directed by Pål Øie, known for his work on The Tunnel, and the screenplay is written by Vilde Eide, Kjersti Jelen Rasmussen, and Natasha Arthur. The production team includes John Einar Hagen, Einar Loftesnes, and Vindhya Sagar, with executive producers Sveinung Golimo and Katrine Vogelsang also involved.

The movie is set for a dual release in theaters and digital platforms on June 12 through Samuel Goldwyn Films.

This looks like a solid setup for a tense creature horror film. The ocean setting alone already adds pressure and fear, and combining that with a mythological monster makes it even more interesting. It will come down to execution, but the atmosphere seems promising. What do you think about Kraken? Does it look like something you would watch? Share your thoughts in the comments.
