‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2 Sees Major Viewership Drop on Netflix
Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender returned for its second season, but the new episodes did not match the huge opening numbers of the first season. According to viewing data reported by Netflix’s weekly Top 10 rankings, Season 2 collected 8.7 million views during its first four days on the platform.
The new season still performed well enough to become the second most-watched English-language TV title on Netflix during the week. However, the numbers show a major decline compared to the first season’s debut in 2024. Season 1 opened with 21.2 million views in its first week, meaning Season 2’s launch was down by around 59%.

Despite the drop, the series continues to attract attention from viewers. The arrival of Season 2 also helped bring more people back to the beginning of the story, with the first season returning to Netflix’s Top 10 chart. Season 1 ranked third for the week with 3 million views, showing that interest in the live-action remake remains strong.
The Netflix rankings were led by another title, I Will Find You, which stayed at the top spot for its second week. According to Netflix’s data, the Harlan Coben adaptation improved after its opening period. The series first debuted with 24 million views over four days before climbing to 34.1 million views during its first full week on the platform.
Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 also faced strong competition from other returning and new titles. Raw: 2026, the June 22 edition of the wrestling series, placed fourth on the English-language TV chart with 2.3 million views.
Season 3 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders followed closely behind, earning 2.2 million views during its second week on Netflix. The reality series continues to attract viewers after returning with its latest episodes.
Other shows also remained steady on the chart. Salish & Jordan Matter Season 1 recorded 2 million views in its sixth week, while Season 2 entered the rankings with the same number. Sweet Magnolias Season 5 also reached 2 million views during its third week of availability.

The Amazing Digital Circus continued its run on Netflix as well. The animated series earned 1.9 million views in its fourth week on the chart. It tied with The Last Ship, the TNT drama that ended in 2018 but recently gained a new audience after arriving on Netflix.
While Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 had a much smaller debut than its predecessor, the series still managed to secure a strong position among Netflix’s biggest weekly releases. The lower opening may be linked to several factors, including the long wait between seasons and changing viewing habits among Netflix subscribers.
The first season became one of Netflix’s biggest new shows after its release, creating high expectations for the follow-up. Season 2’s performance suggests that while the franchise still has a loyal audience, it may need stronger momentum to reach the same level of success as its first chapter.
Netflix’s latest Top 10 data shows that the live-action Avatar series remains a major title for the platform, but the challenge now will be maintaining viewer interest as the story continues into future seasons.
