Rockstar Reveals a $400 GTA 6 Collector’s Box, and It Doesn’t Even Include the Game
Every big game launch eventually gets its own collector’s edition, and fans of Rockstar’s biggest project have been waiting for one for a long time. The wait is over, but the announcement came with a twist that had the internet doing double takes. The studio’s latest big marketing move is a box full of Leonida souvenirs that costs more than most consoles’ worth of games.
The setting is the fictional state of Leonida, with Vice City at its center and the duo of Jason and Lucia at the heart of the story. The game arrives November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a preload beginning November 12. Rockstar has been ramping up marketing, from the 27-minute ‘An Extended Look’ gameplay presentation that premiered on Netflix in August to a soundtrack album and limited-edition PS5 controllers.
On Thursday, Rockstar took things a step further by unveiling ‘Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection’. It is priced at $399.99 in the US and £349.99 in the UK, it is available to pre-order now in limited quantities, and it does not include the game. The box is due on the same day as the game, and the DiscussingFilm post about it drew more than 138,000 views within hours.
Rockstar pitches it as a premium box with all the essentials for a good time, inspired by Macca the Gator, Leonida’s fictional hit TV show. The centerpiece is a 6-inch Macca the Gator figure with a twist-open base for stashing valuables, and the gator is enjoying a smoke and a flamingo blood martini. There is also a pair of matte black Oakley Frogskins with Prizm Sapphire lenses and a Vice City pink GTAVI logo.

The apparel side includes a ripstop Leonida Keys crossbody bag with woven patches and a custom YKK zipper pull. A New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback with Vice City Leonida embroidery and appliques completes it.
The rest of the contents lean into the game’s sense of humor:
- A Macca the Gator magnetic mirror in electroplated pink glass, usable as a tray or wall art
- A Chunkee the Manatee shot glass with a laser-etched Rockstar logo on the bottom
- A Vice City swizzle spoon with a Rockstar Games logo tip
- A razor-blade-style keychain with embossed GTAVI and Vice City logos
- Nine Leonida Keys enamel pins in a custom metal tin
- Nine vinyl stickers in a stash bag
- A double-sided poster showing characters from the Macca TV show on the front and a full map of Leonida on the back
The concept has a precedent. GamingBible noted the box resembles the collector’s box Rockstar released for ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’, which packed in plenty of trinkets without the game. The twist-open stash compartment is also a longstanding Rockstar tradition, as TheGamer pointed out.
The set measures about 48 by 34 by 32 centimeters, and Rockstar notes it is intended for adult collectors and contains small parts. Orders are limited to one per person, and fans can wishlist the collection if it sells out.

The $400 price tag drew immediate attention, especially since the game itself starts at $79.99. TheGamer noted the price is painful but argued the contents are stacked enough to somewhat justify it. The leaks that preceded the announcement had included 22 pieces of merchandise, and apparel and other items haven’t been officially announced yet, so more products are likely.
For many fans, the real story is the marketing campaign. Rockstar and Miami-Dade County have been putting up large-scale signs in downtown Miami, and shops have started displaying posters. Each new piece of merchandise adds to the sense that the launch is becoming a full pop-culture event.
With less than two months to go, the next question is whether limited stock will sell out quickly. If the reaction on social media is any guide, many collectors are already planning to check the Rockstar Store.
