‘The Nanny’ Star Fran Drescher (69) Reveals the One Thing She Says You Must Master to Age Well
The New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala has become one of the most anticipated events on the fall social calendar. Now in its 14th year, it brought stars to Lincoln Center on Thursday, with Sarah Jessica Parker serving as founding chair. Guests included Stevie Nicks, Julia Fox and Fran Drescher.
Drescher arrived with her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, who wore a black suit with a bow tie. The two created ‘The Nanny’ together and were married for 21 years before splitting in 1999. Jacobson came out to her two years later, and the friendship has only deepened since.

Drescher’s has an interesting philosophy on aging. The actress, who turned 69 on Sept. 30, says that anyone who wants to age well has to learn to manage stress. She laid out the idea in a Verywell Health interview in December 2022, and it has resurfaced as her photos from the gala made the rounds.

Her outlook starts with a simple motto: “It ain’t over until you are.” She added that there are always things you can work on and improve, especially when it comes to health. Stress, she explained, is the area she watches most closely, because she has found that her immune system responds poorly to it.

Her fix is practical rather than dramatic. When she notices stress building, she forces herself to lie down and decompress, or she takes a walk in the fresh air and appreciates the trees. She has also said that aging well means honoring your body and actually listening to it.

That mindset has a personal backstory. Drescher was diagnosed with uterine cancer in 2000 after being misdiagnosed, and the experience led her to found the nonprofit Cancer Schmancer, which educates people and lobbies for healthcare policy change. She says taking responsibility for your own health is not optional.
At the gala, her look matched the message. Drescher wore a form-fitting knit Brunello Cucinelli dress with YSL hanging earrings and Jimmy Choo heels.
Hello! said she looked younger than ever and had barely aged a day since starring in ‘The Nanny.’ She also had thoughts on the evening’s entertainment. The company is always pushing the envelope, she said, according to WWD. She added that the dance choreographed to Nicks’ ‘Landslide’ is one of her favorite songs.
Her life outside the red carpet is as full as ever. She is serving her second term as president of the SAG-AFTRA union, still leads Cancer Schmancer and appears in the 2026 film ‘Marty Supreme.’ She told People in 2026 that she is enjoying the single life and feels fulfilled in her relationship with Jacobson.
For fans who have followed her since the ’90s, the message is a refreshing one. There is no magic cream or secret diet, just a woman who knows her limits and takes a walk when the stress piles up. With a schedule that busy, that may be the smartest advice of all.
What do you think is the key to aging well, according to Fran Drescher?
