New ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2 Photo Shows Dexter and Krysten Ritter’s Mia Together Again
Few characters in modern television have been brought back from the dead as many times as Dexter Morgan. Michael C. Hall’s serial-killer-vigilante has survived a shooting, a long hiatus and a franchise shake-up, and he is now deep into the second chapter of his New York story. ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ has turned out to be one of the biggest hits on Paramount+ with Showtime, so every new image gets picked apart.
The series came roaring back in July 2025, when its premiere pulled 4.4 million multiplatform viewers in its first 7 days, according to Variety. After the first season finale in September, Paramount+ renewed the show, and the new episodes arrived on October 30. The cast has since grown to include Brian Cox as the New York Ripper, Dan Stevens as the Five Borough Killer and Gabriel Luna as the Sleepy-Eyed Stranger.
That brings us to the latest peek at the new season. A newly shared still shows Hall’s Dexter sitting on a park bench beside Krysten Ritter’s Mia LaPierre, who is bundled up in a dark beanie, a red top and a puffy jacket. The two look relaxed and deep in conversation, which makes the image feel more like a quiet reunion than a showdown.

Mia, also known as Lady Vengeance, was one of the standout serial killers at the dinner Leon Prater hosted at his mansion in the first season. She and Dexter got close over the course of the season, even though he discovered that she did not follow a code when it came to killing. At one point he invited her bowling, only for her to suggest they plan a new kill together, and he could not go through with it. Their story ended in a way that left her presumed dead, which is why her return was such a surprise.
Ritter’s comeback was announced as a guest-star role, and it immediately sparked theories. Some fans guessed she would only appear as a figment of Dexter’s imagination, in the franchise tradition of bringing back dead characters as visions. Set photos from New York this summer kept that debate alive, showing the pair filming together in Brooklyn, Queens and Hudson River Park.
The new image adds fuel to the fire without answering the big question. Nothing in the frame suggests a hallucination, and nothing suggests danger either. Paramount+ has also credited a photo of Ritter and Hall to the fifth episode of the season, so fans may not have long to wait to see what the pair are up to.
Mia is far from Dexter’s only problem this season. The official synopsis describes a Dexter who is juggling multiple serial killers while battling what it calls his greatest enemy yet, a midlife crisis. Meanwhile, his son Harrison, played by Jack Alcott, continues his own pursuit of justice, and the story promises a dark chapter for father and son.
Uma Thurman is back as Charley, who insists that she and Dexter still have unfinished business. Desmond Harrington has been promoted to series regular as Joey Quinn, while Eric Stonestreet returns as Al Walker, also known as Rapunzel. James Remar also appears as Dexter’s ghostly father figure, Harry Morgan, giving the series its usual mix of voice-of-conscience commentary.

Early critical reaction suggests the show is finding its footing. RogerEbert.com’s Brian Tallerico, who screened the opening episodes, wrote that the premiere is weighed down by the need to tie up loose ends. He added that the season starts to develop its own personality in the second episode, as Cox, Stevens and Thurman get pulled deeper into the story.

Production on the new season began in April, and the run consists of 10 episodes. The timing is also a milestone for the franchise, since the new season arrives as it marks its 20-year anniversary. For a show that keeps finding new ways to resurrect itself, the combination of fresh killers and familiar faces appears to be the winning formula.
Do you think Mia LaPierre is really alive in Dexter: Resurrection Season 2?
