A chilling new horror film, Him, produced by Jordan Peele, is set to hit theaters on September 19, 2025. Universal Pictures released a teaser trailer that starts as a sports drama but quickly spirals into a terrifying psychological thriller.

The story follows Cameron Cade, a young football player on the verge of stardom, portrayed by Tyriq Withers. After a frightening encounter with a fan leaves Cameron with a severe brain injury, his dreams seem shattered.

Enter Isaiah White, a legendary quarterback played by Marlon Wayans, who offers to mentor Cameron at his secluded training compound. What begins as a promising opportunity takes a sinister turn as Isaiah’s charismatic facade hides a disturbing agenda.

Directed by Justin Tipping, Him was written by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie. Originally called Goat, a reference to “greatest of all time”—the script earned a spot on the 2022 Black List for unproduced screenplays. Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions acquired it through Universal, with filming completed by late 2024. The cast includes Julia Fox as Isaiah’s wife, alongside Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, and Naomi Grossman.

The trailer’s shift from sports to horror echoes the unsettling style of Peele’s previous works like Get Out and Nope. Though Peele is only producing, his knack for blending social commentary with suspense is evident. He once said, “Batman has to have a reason for existing, right?”a nod to his belief that every story element must serve a purpose, which seems to shape Him’s narrative.

Marlon Wayans plays Isaiah, a celebrated quarterback with eight championships, but his mentorship leads Cameron into a shadowy world of power and control. The teaser’s eerie tone is amplified by Bobby Krlic’s score, known for his haunting work on Midsommar.

Him looks like a gripping addition to Jordan Peele’s horror legacy, blending sports and suspense in a fresh way. I’m excited to see how it tackles themes of fame and manipulation, but I hope it delivers a clear payoff after the trailer’s big twist. The cast and creepy vibe have me hooked.
