Only Murders in the Building is getting ready for its fifth season on Hulu. The show follows Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) as they dive into another mystery. Fans are eager to find out when the new episodes will arrive and what the story will focus on this time.

Disney recently released a sizzle reel highlighting upcoming shows, and Only Murders in the Building Season 5 was part of that lineup.

The show has dropped its first official footage since wrapping production in June 2025. The brief clip shows Selena Gomez’s Mabel speaking at what seems to be a funeral, saying, “We’re all going to hell.” It’s a short teaser with not much to unpack just yet, and it doesn’t reveal any of the new cast members.

Still, with the show expected to premiere in August, more updates and a fuller look at the season are likely coming soon.

The showrunner promised, “We can expect more big guest stars that’ll probably be announced sooner rather than later.” Of course, Steve Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short will return as the main trio.

Meryl Streep is also coming back as Loretta, who is now married to Oliver in the story. Other regulars like Michael Cyril Creighton and Da’Vine Joy Randolph are expected to return as well. Season 4 had a star-studded cast including Melissa McCarthy, Eugene Levy, and Kumail Nanjiani, so fans can likely expect more surprises.

Deadline has confirmed that Keegan-Michael Key will have a recurring role in Season 5, although details about his character are still under wraps. Variety also revealed that Christoph Waltz will join the cast in a recurring part, but his role remains a secret. Renée Zellweger’s involvement was announced by Deadline as well, though her character hasn’t been revealed.

The story for Season 5 will probably focus on solving the mystery around Lester’s (played by Teddy Coluca) death. Lester, the beloved doorman of the Arconia building, was found dead in the courtyard fountain at the end of Season 4.

The main characters will try to figure out what really happened to him. After last season took the characters to Los Angeles, it looks like the story will return to its New York setting.

As for when fans can watch the new season, it’s expected to premiere in August. The exact date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the excitement is building as more details and guest stars are revealed.
