Netflix has finally released the official trailer for Wednesday Season 2, and fans are already losing it. The spooky hit series, which first dropped in late 2022, is making a big comeback, and this time, things are going to be even darker, weirder, and way more intense.

The first season was a huge success. After premiering on November 16 and hitting the platform globally on November 23, 2022, Wednesday quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched English-language shows ever, second only to Stranger Things.

Jenna Ortega’s take on Wednesday Addams earned her tons of praise, and the show snagged major awards attention, including two Golden Globe nominations and four Primetime Emmy wins.

Now, fans can mark their calendars because the second season is dropping in two parts, one on August 6, 2025, and the other on September 3, 2025. Netflix confirmed the split-season plan, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, filming for Season 2 wrapped in December 2024 after starting back in May. Production took place in Ireland.

Jenna Ortega is back in the lead role, but this time she’s also stepping into the role of executive producer. She’s teaming up again with creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who are returning as showrunners.

Tim Burton remains on board as executive producer too. Ortega told The Hollywood Reporter that the new season will be “leaning more into the horror aspect” and said Wednesday “won’t be dealing with any romantic love interests this time around.”

Gough and Millar added that Season 2 will dive deeper into the friendship between Wednesday and Enid, and also show more of Wednesday’s complicated relationship with her mom, Morticia.

Plenty of familiar faces are returning to Nevermore Academy, including Fred Armisen, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Christina Ricci. But that’s not all, new cast members are joining the fun, like Steve Buscemi, who will play the new principal, Barry Dort, and Thandiwe Newton as Dr. Fairburn. Other stars joining include Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, and even Lady Gaga, though her role is still being kept under wraps.

Ortega’s filming schedule caused quite a stir last year when reports claimed she dropped out of Scream 7 due to conflicts with Wednesday. But in April 2025, Ortega cleared the air and said she stepped away because “key people left the Scream project,” not because of a scheduling problem.

As of now, fans are waiting eagerly for August to roll around, especially with the trailer hinting at more gothic chaos, supernatural surprises, and Wednesday Addams being more fearless (and freaky) than ever.

With a bigger cast, deeper storylines, and an even more haunted vibe, Season 2 of Wednesday is shaping up to be just as addictive as the first, maybe even more.
