Disney is gearing up for a big summer by tying new trailers to the release of Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Feature First has confirmed that fans won’t just get a look at the Marvel film, but also three fresh trailers from some of Disney’s biggest upcoming projects.

Rumors suggested the first teaser for Avatar: Fire and Ash would show before The Fantastic Four, and now it’s official that trailers for TRON: Ares and Predator: Badlands will be part of the lineup as well.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is expected to be one of the summer’s major hits, releasing alongside big movies like Jurassic World: Rebirth and James Gunn’s Superman, both already breaking records this year. Disney clearly wants to take advantage of this momentum by showing new footage for their big tentpole films to reach as many moviegoers as possible.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is the next chapter in James Cameron’s hugely popular sci-fi saga. Cameron co-directed and co-edited this sequel, which he co-wrote with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, based on a story they developed with Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno. Produced by 20th Century Studios, this film follows Avatar: The Way of Water and is the third in the series. The cast features returning stars like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, and Sigourney Weaver, along with new faces including David Thewlis and Oona Chaplin.

James Cameron first talked about making sequels to Avatar back in 2006. After the success of the original movie, he announced two sequels in 2010, with the third film originally planned for 2015.

However, filming performance capture scenes underwater pushed production back because it’s a tricky process that no one had done before. Shooting for Avatar: Fire and Ash started alongside The Way of Water in New Zealand in 2017 and lasted over three years, finishing in late 2020.

The film’s release has been pushed back several times, with the most recent delay announced in August 2024. Avatar: Fire and Ash is now set to hit theaters on December 19, 2025. Fans can also look forward to Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, which are already in production and expected to come out in 2029 and 2031.

This new strategy from Disney, revealed by Feature First, shows how much the studio wants to build excitement by linking trailers from their biggest franchises to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, making the Marvel movie a must-see for fans eager to catch a glimpse of the next big hits.
