First Trailer for ‘The Office’ Spinoff Released Ahead of September Debut on Peacock
The world of The Office is expanding again, and this time, it’s heading to a small-town newspaper. Peacock has released the first trailer for The Paper, a brand-new mockumentary comedy from The Office creator Greg Daniels and writer Michael Koman. The series is set to premiere on September 4, 2025.

The Paper takes place in Toledo, Ohio, and follows a documentary crew that shifts its focus from Dunder Mifflin to a struggling local newspaper called The Truth Teller. This once-respected paper is now barely holding on and trying to make a comeback using volunteer reporters.
It’s the same mockumentary style that fans of The Office will recognize, but with a totally new setting and characters.
The show stars Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore as the leads, with a large cast that includes Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Tim Key, and Eric Rahill. In a fun surprise for longtime fans, Oscar Nuñez is back as Oscar Martinez, reprising his role from The Office. His return was announced in February 2025.
The idea for the series started back in January 2024, when it was reported by multiple outlets that Greg Daniels was working on a follow-up to The Office. At first, the project didn’t have a name, but it was always set in the same universe.
In March 2024, Daniels officially teamed up with Michael Koman to co-create the new show. By May, Peacock had ordered a full series, and production kicked off in July. The show’s title, The Paper, was revealed in June.
Daniels is also executive producing the series alongside Koman, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, and Ben Silverman. The production is being handled by Universal Television.
The show focuses on a different kind of office, but the awkward workplace humor is still there. According to Peacock, the same documentary crew that once followed the employees at Dunder Mifflin is now filming inside The Truth Teller newsroom. That setup creates a fresh way to explore new characters while staying in the world fans already know.
New poster for the show has also been revealed:

The cast grew throughout 2024 and 2025. Gleeson and Impacciatore were announced first in April 2024. A few months later, in September, actors like Gregg, Frei, and Young joined in. More names were added later, including Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, and Tim Key. The supporting cast features Allan Havey, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, Tracy Letts, and Duane Shepard Sr.
The action all revolves around The Truth Teller, a fictional but deeply Midwestern newspaper trying to stay alive in a digital world. With no budget and little staff, things often go off the rails. But for fans of workplace comedy, that’s the point.
The Paper will officially debut on Peacock on September 4. The trailer is already out now, giving fans a first look at what’s to come, and it’s looking like another chaotic (and hilarious) office is ready to take center stage.
